Interesting. Very smart and thrifty teacher!

A volcano in a mug. Neat idea to show kids how they work. Much more accurate than the old baking soda/vinegar idea.

Quoted from the link: "I maintain a compliment chain to record the compliments we receive for walking in line and for our behavior in specials.  The class receives one link for every compliment.  When the chain hits the floor, they receive a reward."

Draw the outline of a hand, very lightly in pencil, and then began drawing lines freehand across the paper. When part of the hand is in the way of the straight line, have each artist "crawl over" their finger or hand with curves and arcs. The optical illusion becomes very obvious if the lines were close together and the curves fairly strong.

Story Telling Path..Adaptation...really cute way for students to practice for oral book reports with stops along the way for: Title, author, characters, main idea, personal connection, recommendation/favorite part. An excellent way for students to introduce other students to good literature choices.

What if Everybody Did That? This one should come standard with every primary classroom. The book goes through a day with a little one who does things without thinking.

fun idea when you have a sub: don't tell the kids where you are and then have them write about where they think you are/what they think happened to you.
