Leigh Sidell Oh, what I wouldn't give for a Butler's Pantry. So nice. (Have you ever watched Selling Spelling Manor on HGTV? It's fascinating. She had a huge pantry bigger than this space just for her silver. The walls, every drawer and every shelf were lined with anti tarnish silver cloth.
Love this kitchen -- so Louisiana with the exposed and ragged brick wall and the real rug on the kitchen floor.

Leigh Sidell Great ideas! Thanks! (I think Interior Design must be your "2nd calling". lol). Looking back at my email, I realized I didn't really finish my thought process: I was thinking more in the context of if I were to ever build a house from scratch...would I want to do the whole house in those gray, white (and probably Restoration Hardware colored) tones? Or would I get bored with it or want more color? I was thinking of how I would love to do the kitchen in those tones, but that I'd probably need to have the rest of the house match it, otherwise it would look disjointed. Do you agree? Or do you have more great ideas? But I definitely like your tips as well...I might have to look into them!
Leigh Sidell And does your everyday china pattern match?! Mine is very "Tuscan" in color and pattern--terra cotta, yellow, sage green and cream. Would look HORRIBLE against gray and white! ha ha. Oh well...I guess it would stay in the cupboard most of the time, right?!
Leigh Sidell I meant, "Does your everyday china pattern HAVE to match...?"
Kerri Weems Well I think it depends on how open the kitchen is to the rest of the house. If you have a typical kitchen/family/breakfast room combo then I would just do all the open areas the same scheme, I think the more important thing is getting an overall look -- like modern coastal for example -- and then you can vary the color scheme per section of the house. For example, bedrooms are closed off, so if you like a moodier or cozier (or more cheerful) bedroom then go for it!
Kerri Weems And no -- I would never decorate around a china pattern!
I know that this kitchen would make be a better cook.

Really beautiful traditional kitchen. Via Cote de Texas.
I Like the idea of center - placed table. Cute pendant. via Cote de Texas.
Range hood, LA Cornue ($$$$ sadly) range, solid slab marble back splash, some contemporary elements.
Pretty-ful (As Annie would say) -- imagining spaghetti sauce splatters on the backsplash. Maybe not so practical.
Like that pop of Green on the backsplash. (Via Cote de Texas)
via cote de Texas blog. This kitchen has so many cool idea: Sliding barn door for pantry, map of Paris covered with ploy for back splash, bar stools from a medical supply co., outdoor lanterns over this island.

Fetching pins…
Leigh Sidell So pretty. Love the range hood. I LIKE the banquette! (Banquttes in the breakfast nook have been growing on me lately though). I think they're charming...as long as they're not too big and still have 2-3 chairs to sit in. This one IS a little big though). I also think it looks like a great spot for homework, a project or gift wrapping.
