Sara M We just did this with putty colored cabinets and a very similar stained island. Thanks for building my confidence that it was the right move!!! (It is soo easy to second guess throughout the building process!)
It's really a bar, but I love the huge mirror flanked by shelves and the way the counter bar is off set to the side.

Erica Ruess I think painting the walls alone would have made a huge difference. Then updating the light fixtures as well. Painting the beautiful cherry wood...that makes me sad.
