Clean Hardwood Floors Use boiling water and two teabags to clean hardwood floors. The tannic acid in tea creates a beautiful shine for hardwood floors. Let two teabags steep in the boiling water for a few minutes. Pour the tea into a bucket. Take a soft cloth and wring it out in the tea. The cloth merely needs to be damp, not soaked. This will enable the floor to dry quickly. Wash the floor and be ready to be amazed by the sheen.

Profile picture of Alanna Kellogg

Alanna Kellogg It takes a few clicks to get to the place where you can see how to actually etch the glass -- but here it is http://images.melissae.... I'm wondering, however, about the wisdom of etching Pyrex etc that will go in/out of hot ovens. There are already enough incidents of Pyrex exploding in ovens and microwaves - weakening the glass doesn't seem smart??? Platters, glasses, etc -- no problem.

Smart Idea: Lemonade Kool-Aid as Dishwasher Cleaner - Clean lime deposits and iron stains inside the dishwasher by pouring a packet of lemonade Kool-Aid (the only flavor that works) into the detergent cup and running the (empty) dishwasher. The citric acid in the mix wipes out stains; you don't have to.

The next time you have green onions, don't throw away the white ends. Simply submerge them in a glass of water and place them in a sunny window. Your onions will begin to grow almost immediately and can be harvested almost indefinitely.

The "miracle" of baking soda and peroxide. Put 1/4 cup of baking soda in a bowl.....add enough peroxide to make a paste. Rub on with fingers or sponge. Cleans EVERYTHING! Stove, oven, pans, stainless steel applicances, even the white handles of the refrig door.
