"For the wonderful thing about saints is that they were human. They lost their tempers, got hungry, scolded God, were egotistical, or testy or impatient in their turns, made mistakes and regretted them. Still they went on doggedly blundering toward heaven." -Phyllis McGinley, "Saint-Watching"

We all know as Catholics we are called to respect life from the moment of conception to natural death. We use this phrase so often it tumbles off our tongues on instinct. Often we focus on those two moments when a human is most vulnerable: unborn or dying. But what about that long space between. As homeschoolers, we have the opportunities to really teach our children, in word and deed, how to truly respect all life.

Cheryl Caputo This is great! Thank you!
Cheryl Caputo I repinned the image because some of it was cut off. How were you able to pin this from Facebook? I get the message that I am unable to pin from there.
Marcelle Bartolo-Abela I too had to repin it. What I did was save the image, upload it, but then put in the original web address where it came from. Pinterest didn't let me pin directly from the facebook page, either.

Barb "By bearing patiently with the pains of sickness,a great, and perhaps the greater, part of the crown which is prepared for us in Heaven, is completed. The sick sometimes complain that in sickness they can do nothing; but they err; for, in their infirmities they can do all things, by accepting their sufferings with peace and resignation." (A. de Liguori) "The cross of Christ, says St. Chrysostom, is the key to Paradise."

Allison Girone ANOTHER ARTICLE on the topic http://www.patheos.com/blog...
Maria Estevania It's a shame how a religious freedom issue is sold to the public as a contraception issue. This would otherwise be a fight that would/could unify ALL religions and people of faith because throughout history, we know how "they" first target one, then go after the rest like a domino effect when there's no unity. Other religions and people of faith don't even realize they have a dog in this fight. It's infuriating!
Allison Girone So true, Maria. Let's keep using social media for good.
Kimberly Borchardt So sad that the media will not spread news that could really be useful to all of us voters out there. That is another reason why social media really needs to become a strong outlet for spreading news of the faith as well as defending it. Thanks for posting this!
CATHOLICONLINE article about Catholic Homeschooling. "The survey also states that homeschooled children show "healthy psychological, emotional, and social development, and success into adulthood." It is believed, by Dr. Brian Ray and many other researchers, that, in the next decade, there will be a huge increase in the percent of children that are homeschooled."

"...My point is this: Evil talks about tolerance only when it’s weak. When it gains the upper hand, its vanity always requires the destruction of the good and the innocent, because the example of good and innocent lives is an ongoing witness against it. So it always has been. So it always will be. And America has no special immunity to becoming an enemy of its own founding beliefs about human freedom, human dignity, the limited power of the state, and the sovereignty of God."~ ARCHBISHOP CHAPUT

The Holy Ghost. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy love. V. Send forth Thy spirit, and they shall be created. R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth. Let us pray. O God, who hast taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the gift of the same Spirit we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fetching pins…
Elizabeth Heath I have to wonder though how many of us are practicing. Makes me sad when I see my own family and friends not being a full Cathlolic.
Teresa Baird I had read, but I don't know if it's true, 22.2 percent of Catholics are practicing Catholics.
Maria Estevania I wonder, by whose definition of "practicing"? My own definition has changed in the last four years; I thought I was doing it right then, but now realize that I was nowhere near where I ought to be. A "practicing" Catholic ought to not only mean that everyone you encounter knows what faith you practice; it ought to mean that you live your faith so thoroughly, to such an extent, that no one need ask.
Barb Don't know of a family who does not have a member(s) in their family who doesn't practice their faith. All we can can do is be an example and pray for them. Certainly many of us can say that at one time or another we did not practice or faith as we should have, some may still wonder if in fact they do now...I, for one! ...How important it is to bring up children in habits of virtue.
Christi Torralba On Ash Wed, our priest's message was but a few words - Today, people will see ashes on your forehead and know you are Catholic. How will they know tomorrow?
