Katie, is a 22 year old from Tennessee who is now living in Uganda as a foster mother to 13 beautiful little girls. Her story is amazing and her blog is so incredibly inspiring. I am typically not one to be interested in religious causes and especially not causes outside of the US but I cannot help but be drawn back to this story. Most people know I strongly support causes helping children in the US. Not because this is where I am from, but because there is so much hurt, pain, and suffering right here in our own backyards. I do realize that the gift someone gives to a child in need is just as great no matter where the child has come from. Katie’s blog is uncensored, graphic, terrifying yet inspiring and hopeful. You will see images that make your heart hurt and read things that you could never imagine happening. It’s the cold hard truth. Katie is an amazing young woman. This article deeply saddened my heart, couldn't get through it all with out tears. - The drought and famine in the horn of Africa has killed more than 29,000 children under the age of 5 in the last 90 days in southern Somalia alone.
