Barn Swallow - April 2012 These acrobatic birds come out when my husband is mowing. They swoop around behind the mower, looking for bugs in the grass.

Northern Mockingbird - not technically on our property, but just up the road. The tail is long, but not as long as the scissor-tail flycatcher. Bright white stripes on its wings.
Eastern Meadowlark - March 2012 We actually HEARD this bird before seeing it. I heard it daily and finally figured it out by listening to different bird calls on the iBird app. I've seen its white striped tail as it flies away, but have yet to see its yellow breast.

Carolina Wren - March 2012 Apparently this is a shy bird, but I saw it on a straw bale we had near the house, gathering nesting material.

Great-horned Owl - January 2012 We technically didn't SEE this bird, but heard two of them cooing to each other one evening from our sunroom. One was on an E and the other was a perfect fifth above it on a B. Their rhythms were consistent each time they spoke.
