Stole this idea from Jodi Ettenberg's Pinterest :) Will be posting my 3 books/month reviews here.
So my mother recommended this book to me when I was 9. Not sure what she was thinking as it's a 400page, dense book on the history of ancient human civilizations. But I'm glad she did as the title stuck in my mind and I finally picked it up at 21. Still not an easy read, but definitely worth going through for anyone interested or curious about how human societies progressed and why some advanced quicker than others. Very solid writing. The author doesn't stop at answering surface questions, but keeps probing to the root cause of events. I'm interested in reading more about this subject matter for sure.

A unique novel that I highly recommend to anyone. The odd writing style and seemingly bizarre description of events are intriguingly puzzling until you quickly realize the narrator's point of view. I don't want to give much away, but besides being an enjoyable read, it really makes you look at the world and everyday happenings through a different set of lenses. [Recommended by Alice L]
