Love this! Buy plates from Dollar Store, write things like, Night Before Christmas, wedding vows for a gift, happy birthday song, the possibilities are endless :) Please note, they used a Porcelain 150 Pen which is permanent and safe once baked for 30 mins in a conventional oven.

All Aboard The Minivan Express! Ready to start a Christmas tradition that the whole family will enjoy? I know you’ve all seen The Polar Express, well, this is our own version of that fun adventure! Each year we hide the “Golden Tickets” in our kids’ beds. My husband starts the bedtime routine as usual, while I prepare little bags of popcorn and hot chocolate drinks and place them in the car, oh and don’t forget to have Christmas music playing in the car too! When the kids go to climb into bed, they will find the ticket hidden under their covers, get ready for lots of giggles and screams as they all find their tickets! The kids are then instructed to grab their slippers and head for the car. Upon entrance to The Minivan Express, we hole punch the ticket (you know for effect and all.) Next, we travel around the city looking at all the beautiful lights. We may even stop somewhere for a fun snack on the way home. Now the kids look forward to this each year and look forward to getting “those special tickets”!

Starting at age 3, every year on their birthday you ask the same questions and see how their answers change over the years! Add a pic and make a book out of it....THIS I CAN DO!

I LOVE this idea. Make a wipe-off placemat for each kid to sit down and draw out their day while I cook dinner. Then it gives us something to talk about while we eat!

The blessing hour gives us 60 minutes, around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, to pick-up, dust, sweep and get ready for our evening routine. It is a nice way to transition into our down time, and to make sure that our home is ready for a quiet family dinner. It feels refreshing to know that our home will be cleaned and organized, and that the boys have a sense of pride in moving into their evening with a fresh space. Of course it helps that every Blessing Hour is followed by a warm pot of tea, a favorite gluten free bread, warm butter and a dab of honey (or any other goodies we have made that week). Tea time has always been a favorite of mine, even before I had children, but ending the chores of the day and moving towards preparation for our family meal and our evening routine makes tea time even more special. I truly believe that setting that hour each day helps the boys to know when it is their time, their responsibility to help around their home. There is little complaining, and in fact there is more of a sense of simple transition into the next phase of their day.

One dollar for each year in separate balloons. Then they pop them after cake and presents. What a great birthday idea! From Increasingly Domestic blog.

Wrap 24 christmas books you already own. Kids get to pick which one is read that day. Stack under kids tree in bedroom.

Cute! (Cover the floor of their room with birthday balloons while they sleep. That way they have a big surprise when they wake up.).
