Yolk Recruitment Does anyone actually use Facebook to check candidates? I think all the stories in media are over exaggerated (and not just about recruitment).
Andy Headworth Definitely. Depending on which country dictates how 'open' they are about the checking of candidates. I presented to an audience of 150 corporate recruiters early last year - 75% admitted to checking candidates out on all the different networks........ "unofficially" of course!
Yolk Recruitment We prefer the personal approach, phones and face to face really gets the best results. Facebook and Twitter updates are fickle in nature and don't really tell you anything about a candidate - even LinkedIn is a certain degree is formulaic and repetitive. There's so much info out there like your blog on how to represent yourself online that the people's profiles are becoming quite monotonous.
Andy Headworth Don't disagree with the personal touch and relationship building - they are so important. But don't be too quick to discount social media, you can learn a lot from SM about candidates to help you in the recruitment process. That is on top of being able using SM to source candidates :-)
