Korean Groceries

My recommendations for grocery shopping in Seoul. These are some of the things I'd like to take back home to share with friends and family. If only I had room in my suitcase...

This gum is not very good, but it makes for an interesting novelty gift. The gum changes flavor as you chew -- from grape to mint.

Potato Lentil soup made from rice (needs to be refrigerated)

Rice flour bread -- it's like eating crustless bread

Fruit Vegetable Salad Juice - Great for the morning when I'm on the go.

Hot Choco Delight - individual packets of hot chocolate mix. I like this particular brand because there's less sugar and it has a dark chocolate flavor.

Flavored milk straws - banana flavored milk is a Korean favorite

Maxim "Mocha Gold" instant coffee mix. My mom likes this brand. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I appreciate the individually portioned packets of instant coffee mix.

Maxim Ice Coffee Mix - Just add ice and water. Makes a great gift for the office.

Dr. You Not Fried Donuts -- a little bit on the dry side, but who can resist a mini chocolatey cake donut?

recommended by @Cynthia Park - little waffle cakes filled with chocolate and rice cake

Barley biscuits. A bit on the plain side, but that's what I like about it. Crunchy wholesome biscuits with a hint of sesame flavor.

Gosomi -- I'm not sure what these cookies are made off, but they're delicious. I can't really describe it, but if I had to try, I'd say it's a nutty, buttery, thin, and crispy concoction lightly dusted with sugar.

Soy bean onion chips. Similar to deep fried won ton chips.

Like Bugles, only better!

Shrimps Chips. Quite similar to the shrimp chips you get at Chinese restaurants when you order Peking duck. You can't just stop after one chip.

Octopus flavored chips. They don't really taste like octopus, but I don't know how else to describe the flavor. Salty and addictive?

Dream Cacao - 72% cacao, good for folks who like dark chocolate. The little cubes of chocolate are a convenient, and prudent way to satiate chocolate cravings.

Market O Choco Wafer - thin crispy wafer dipped in chocolate. The salty wafer offers a nice contrast to the chocolate. I could probably eat a whole pack in one sitting.

Peanut caramel - This is a good gift for people with a sweet tooth. It's a Korean candy from back in the day.

instant curry made with rice

Nongshim Anseongtangmyun -- This is one of my favorite ramyuns. Only slightly spicy.
