each little person gets their own wrapping paper---none of the gifts are marked, and in order to know which gifts are theirs, they have to find a tiny piece of their wrapping paper in the bottom of their stocking. it's a little last minute excitement, as they see the gifts, but don't know which belongs to who.

what a cute idea! "All Aboard The Minivan Express! Ready to start a Christmas tradition that the whole family will enjoy? I know you’ve all seen The Polar Express, well, this is our own version of that fun adventure! Each year we hide the “Golden Tickets” in our kids’ beds. My husband starts the bedtime routine as usual, while I prepare little bags of popcorn and hot chocolate drinks and place them in the car, oh and don’t forget to have Christmas music playing in the car too! When the kids go to climb into bed, they will find the ticket hidden under their covers, get ready for lots of giggles and screams as they all find their tickets! The kids are then instructed to grab their slippers and head for the car. Upon entrance to The Minivan Express, we hole punch the ticket (you know for effect and all.) Next, we travel around the city looking at all the beautiful lights. We may even stop somewhere for a fun snack on the way home. Now the kids look forward to this each year and look forward to getting “those special tickets”!"

"Each year our kids must choose ten old toys to put in their Santa bags. These must be toys in decent shape that other kids would actually want. We leave the bags under our tree on Christmas Eve. Santa takes the old toys back to the North Pole to fix them up he leaves new toys in the bag. I toss the toys in a black trash bag and hide them until I can drop them at Goodwill or a service center. New toys are unwrapped in the bag. Santa leaves a few "family gifts" under the tree that are wrapped. Great way to declutter, recycle old toys, and teach the kids about giving rather than receiving."

"The best recipe there ever was. It can’t be Christmas without it. 1 gallon of apple juice (100% apple juice) ½ gallon of pineapple juice 1 cinnamon stick 5 clove pieces ½ t. nutmeg 1 orange, sliced juice of 1 lemon ½ c. sugar Combine all ingredients in a big pot on the stove and simmer for 2-3 hours. Or in a large crock pot for 2 hours on high, then turn to low or ‘keep warm’ and can be left on all day. (Favorite method is in the crock pot.) Recipe from Helen Robinson of Canyon, Texas"
