Good list of books with age-appropriate content for advanced readers (and good list of children's lit in general)
Unfortunately, we're beyond some of these. Some, I might be able to get by with for my 9-y-o, who doesn't love reading so much.

This is the best ABC book I've ever seen! I bought it after I took a library science class - before I even had children. As a middle school teacher, I used it for writing exercises with my students. Beautiful book for all ages!

Fetching pins…
Beth Edwards One of my favorites!
Tracy Clinton Ezerski It took me FOREVER to be able to read it without crying! A male friend gave it to us after we had our baby and he even warned me that it was a tough one! My sis in law made fun of it when she saw it (the illustrations are a little goofy) and I said: go ahead and try to get through it! She had baby who had just turned one at the time. Ya, she cried! :)
Holly Kurtz A favorite of mine, but still cry every time I read it.
Julie Thompson Loved this book too- but now that I'm a mom and I read it, I can't help but think how creepy it is that the mom drives across town in middle of the night, puts a ladder up to her son's bedroom and sneaks in! Ha!
Jeanne Huml never thought of that. You're right...ah...now I can read it without shedding a tear.
