But you can have all the benefits of these commercial baking mixes, at half the price, by simply making your own in bulk at home. Homemade baking mixes save you money, still provide convenience, and they can also be adapted to suit your dietary needs. Use less salt, replace sugar with a sugar substitute, use less fat or add whole grains depending on the needs of your family. Let me share with you some that I've had for ages and use all the time.

Not long ago I discovered the absolute best hummus recipe. I was searching for healthy snacks I could make here at home for hubby and me. I made the hummus, but my husband didn't like it. I however, *loved* it! I made hummus again another time, with another recipe and discovered that while the hummus recipes were very similar, they respond to different spices. This means that the best hummus recipe in my opinion is a basic one, with not too many ingredients. After you make it once (if you've never tried it before), you'll know whether or not you like the nutty flavor of the chick peas. I think you'll like it. When you make hummus again, you can experiment with different flavors and create your own individual best hummus recipe! To help you with all that, I've included the best hummus recipe I have, along with hummus recipe videos and links - and even some hummus photos to inspire you!

Have you ever made your own crackers? If not, you're in for a treat! Homemade crackers are better than store bought any day! Making your own crackers means that YOU control the ingredients and the flavors too. Want whole wheat crackers? You can do that! Want herb flavored crackers? They're just as easy! Use olive oil, butter, margarine, milk OR water (just depends on the recipe). Simple, simple, simple. And they are soooo gooooood! I'm going to share with you my two favorite cracker recipes, a few videos I found and show you where to find more cracker recipes. I haven't finished experimenting with the two recipes I have and all the variations I can make with them. Ha! But I love gathering the recipes and switching them around. Fast and easy are the only requirements I put on recipes I try out. Economical is high on the list too. So all these homemade crackers are fast AND easy to make and the ingredients are simple and ECONOMICAL! Yay! Let's make some crackers!
