Pinterest is an online pinboard.
Organize and share things you love.
Metal patina and colorization are a big deal at B'sue Boutiques, something I love to experiment with and share. On this board I'll pin some of my own experiments along with links to YouTube presentations I've done (where available!) so that you can give it a go. Surface treatment can make all the difference in your design work....so! be inspired and give it a try!

The applied patina to the fine silver top coat is an amazing example of mocked patina....and looks very natural. This is one of my fave stampings, I use it all the time. Looks like old aged sterling....Victorian Luggage Tag Stampings Brass Base by bsueboutiquesupplies, $7.50

Joan Williams of Lil Ruby at Etsy made her signature style with a little beady vibe in the center...LOVE! She used rusty black patina, a finish carried at bsueboutiques.com, buffed back to reveal the cool coppery highlights.

Creative Musings Thank you for the invite. I apologize for the very late response. An unexpected death in our family through me for a loop.

All three Swellegant patinas, layered, and then hints of sun yellow and caribbean blue dye oxides. One is buffed back, one is not. Both sealed with Renwax.

Raw brass darkened, on the right. Raw brass darkened, then add Tiffany Green Patina, on the left. Both patinas are fast and easy to apply, and are from the SWELLEGANT line. Finish with Renwax buff out.

Patina created on raw brass with Tiffany Green and Darkening Patinas, over brass metal coating, by Swellegant. Swellegant is a great new set of patina products safe and easy to use, but still jeweler's grade quality. Developed by artist Christi Friesen from Sculpt Nouveau products, finally something in small practical sized bottles that is low odor, VOC free, and works! Video tomorrow. bsueboutiques.com

Deborah Weintraub Love!
This was a demo piece from one of my YouTube videos (find them under bsueboutiques--we have 61 as of today! and many are about colorization and patina) I used a rusty black winged plaque, buffed it back to let the copper underlayer show, then put pinotage Gilder's Paste into clear nail lacquer and went over...let dry...buffed out....added a bit of Viva Decor gold-green paint and then sealed with Krylon. I love the rich berry tones with the black!

This has no ink or paint or Gilder's paste enhancement.....it's simply the deep patina achieved in the oven, buffed out hard with an old piece of denim. Took a bit of time...but. Wouldn't you say it's worth it? bsueboutiques.com

The result of two oven-bakings on raw, clean, degreased brass. After the second bake, I dipped it in the vinegar-salt solution and let it air dry over night. For a lark I sealed it with Future Floor Wax, but since then have found that's not the best way. Renaissance Wax is awesome over this patina, it makes it glow ever so slightly, like rich, old, beautiful metal. Renwax and lots of raw brass for experimenting at bsueboutiques.com

patina brass earrings very cool.... easy to do over filigree with paint dabbers and sealant, or Gilder's Paste. In this case paint would be simple and you could get that cool pea green look fast. Just be certain to seal it.

toasty patina on industrial parts....I think they are lamp parts. You can get a patina like this w Miracle Gro, Novacan Black, and water....I'd have to look up the recipe again!

This may be commercially done, but you could do this at home with an oxidant OR.....paint! OR paint, AND Gilder's Paste. OR...all Gilder's Paste! LOL
