Entebbe hostages arrive in Israel. On June 27 1976, an Arab-German cell of the PFLP hijacked an Air France plane and diverted it to Entebbe, Uganda. Crew and non-Jewish hostages were freed. With no diplomatic end in sight, Israel sent a rescue mission which flew 2,500 miles at an altitude of only 100 ft to avoid radars. Israelis stormed Entebbe's airport and freed the hostages. The Air France pilot (photo), though not Jewish, refused being liberated by the hijackers and stayed with the hostages

The decree appears in three scripts: the upper text is Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the middle portion Demotic script, and the lowest Ancient Greek. Because it presents essentially the same text in all three scripts (with some minor differences between them), it provided the key to the modern understanding of Egyptian hieroglyphs.
