Joan Mitchell I think zone 5-7 if it is a Golden Chaintree (laburnum). I'm also think I remember reading that many or all parts of this tree are poisonous...Not that anyone is going to go out and eat it- lol ! Just an interesting bit of info...

Wendy McKenrick mine looked about like this one, a snow/ice storm uprooted it, but i know that it will grow back, you cant kill this stuff. i have tryed to pull it up in places i dont want it to grow and it always come back up!!

Nella Ray Yes, chinese lanterns. In the fall when they change from green to orange I use them in fall arrangements. The leaves are ugly, they get stripped off, but the orange lanterns last forever.
