Herdwick - the Cumbrian Fell breed. Heafed to the land, these sheep are incredibly important for maintaining the Lakeland scenery. Very hardy. They produce good meat and the wool was used for making excellent tweed fabric. If we want to keep our sheep, we need to use their fleece properly, not synthetics which can never be as good in terms of performance, or sustainable. Use it or lose it! visitcumbria.com
Incredible! Trina, a 3-year-old Finnsheep, stands with her unusually large brood of seven 2-week-old lambs on April 12 in a field at the home of their owner, Colleen Peck, in Snoqualmie, Wash. Finnsheep, a breed of domestic sheep known for multiple births, commonly give birth to up to five lambs. The healthy septuplets — four boys and three girls — are fed by their mother, and Peck also feeds them a supplemental formula by hand.
