Coleen Uyehara Maria, you are soooo right.

Most of you have heard about KONY 2012 filmmaker Jason Russell having some type of breakdown. He's diagnosed with a Brief Psychotic Disorder. From what I know of Jason Russell, the sudden, whirlwind and emotional and behavioral demands that KONY 2012 is more than enough to be a stressor to trigger this disorder. As with all mental illness and disorders, they are very real and not an excuse for inappropriate behavior or a character flaw.

people need to wake up.

Sarah McCall Seriously! I vehemently agree!

My comment to this pin states, "This would have been funny if it said, "roadrunner" and not "person." Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death and is on the rise. A suicide attempt approximately occurs every 14 minutes or about one million per year. Approximately 39,000, die from suicide."

Sara Hargis OK, whoa. Take a chill pill. Why are you commenting nastily on my pins and then repining them on to your own boards?

Profile picture of Sara Hargis

Sara Hargis First off, my own father killed himself a couple years ago. I am not trying to promote suicide or something with this goddamn pin. For Christ's sakes, its a picture of Wile E. Coyote. Get a grip.

Profile picture of Sara Hargis

Sara Hargis I myself spent most of my adolescence in a mental hospital because I was so depressed after the incident. If I didn't have a sense of humor about this type of stuff, the world would have destroyed me long ago.

Sara Hargis In other words: Grow up, miss. The Looney Tunes are not out to get you, and neither am I.

My comment to this pin I saw was "This is not funny to those friends and family who have lost love ones to eating disorders. 10-15% of the American population have eating disorders of all types. They have the highest mortality rate of any other psychological illness. Eating Disorders Kill and is not a matter to be even if it is about yourself

I'm trying to make a decision and want to know what you prefer...a long board with lots of pins or a few boards with less pins?

Sally Adebayo I like more boards with less pins. Then I can look at an entire board in the short periods I'm in front of the computer.

Profile picture of Sally Adebayo

Sally Adebayo That said,I've not been that successful in creating new smaller boards.

Right on, Senator.

Wow!!! I've only heard of her vaguely. This woman has issues and seems so full of hatred and much more. What is really scary is that people listen to her ideas and believe them. Despite this being a reaction to 9/11, this is horrendous!!

Following the increased religious sentiment after the Civil War, US currancy was changed. "In God We Trust" was adopted as the official motto of the United States in 1956. In God We Trust has appeared on U.S. coins since 1864 and on paper currency since 1957.

Coleen Uyehara Although the first colonists in America came from Europe (mostly Great Britain, Spain, and Holland), many of them to escape religious persecution (Christian persecution no less!), to establish a place of free Christian worship, these early European-Americans eventually succumbed to the government of Great Britain. The religious-right propagandists like to put emphasis on this period of American history because, indeed, these first European-Americans did live under Christian rule and it makes it seem as if these first colonists established the government of the United States.

Coleen Uyehara The Founding Fathers, also, rarely practiced Christian orthodoxy. Although they supported the free exercise of any religion, they understood the dangers of religion. Most of them believed in deism and attended Freemasonry lodges. According to John J. Robinson, "Freemasonry had been a powerful force for religious freedom." Freemasons took seriously the principle that men should worship according to their own conscience. Masonry welcomed anyone from any religion or non-religion, as long as they believed in a Supreme Being. Washington, Franklin, Hancock, Hamilton, Lafayette, and many others accepted Freemasonry.

You may not realize how damaging the r-word can be. But when you use slang terms like "retard,” you are marginalizing and insulting millions of people with Intellectual Disabilities, their families and friends. So now you know. Please don’t use the “r” word. r-word.orgYou are the only person I can be retarded with.

The Christian Left Satirical Rundown of the GOP Presidential Field

The Christian Left Satirical Rundown of the GOP Presidential Field

The writer of Hebrews states that, “Faith is the ‘hupostasis’ of things hoped for…” This is the original language. The meaning of substance has changed significantly from the original language. (continued in comment section) The following example is the best description that I have been able to find.

Coleen Uyehara http://hopefaithprayer.com/..., the best explanation that I have seen: "In other words, “that which underlies what is apparent.” Amplified a bit further, it is that which, though perhaps unseen, exists beneath and supports what is visible. It then, has the sense of a foundation. Even as the foundation of a building is unseen, and the building above ground is visible, the foundation – the hupostasis – is nonetheless real, supporting the building. Hupostasis is the unseen support of what is standing in clear view.' Therefore, God does provide evidence. For me, science, other religions, the Bible, and what science has proved historically and scientifically how many thing in the Bible may have ocurred.

I've been a active, questioning Christian since 1981. I can give all the Christian answers for why these things and other horrible things happen. But, bottom line is that I'm not God. I don't understand or know why. However, I do know that God is about love and acceptance. That is true for me despite these things happening. It to me is like we all do things that seem to contradict ourselves, but we don't know the mind or or feelings or the other person.

A recent New York Times article noted that the median net worth of members of Congress rose 15% from 2004 to 2010, while the net worth of the richest 10% of US households remained flat. Even worse, for all American families, net worth dropped 8% over the same time period.

Of members of Congress reporting net worth in excess of $1 million, 110 were Democrats and 140 were Republicans; and •The current salary for a rank-and-file member of Congress is $174,000 per year, with House and Senate leadership positions earning slightly more.

A few Christian fundamentalists attempt to convince us to return to the Christianity of early America, yet according to the historian, Robert T. Handy, "No more than 10 percent-- probably less-- of Americans in 1800 were members of congregations." The Founding Fathers, also, rarely practiced Christian orthodoxy. Although they supported the free exercise of any religion, they understood the dangers of religion. Most of them believed in deism and attended Freemasonry lodges.

John (Fire) Lame Deer “Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men, we didn’t have any kind of prison. Because of this, we had no delinquents. Without a prison, there can be no delinquents. We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves. When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift. We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property. We didn’t know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth. We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another. We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don’t know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.” — John (Fire) Lame Deer

I actually don't like this phrase. First it is not, in the Bible. It is also insensitive to the other person as you are placing your values on the other person which makes it about you and not about them. Additionally, this is almost impossible thing for anyone to do as the saying implies that you know better than the other person and are being their judge. The following is an explanation of a message that a gay Christian gave at a church: “Love the sinner and hate the sin” is one of the most offensive things he hears. He takes it to mean that the person goes out of their way to tell him that their theology is still rock solid, and puts theology above a person. “(that statement) is all about you.” Whether that is the person’s intention or not (it is not mine if I say it), it is how it makes him feel, and I realize that I need to be sensitive to how things can sound.

Just and FYI...these are not things that you would hear in a psychiatric facility. Only Facebook where people sound a bit more impaired. I know that I'm being a bit too sensitive. I think that it is funny too. But, I just wanted to make people a bit more aware as I've come across, people who really think this way and it may perpetuate the stigma of mental illness.
