Maybe not my mother who is in her mid-sixties, but maybe me or, if I had kids, my children. It is such an unsanitary spot and a place for infections to infiltrate into your body.

Dinah’s Family Resaurant first opened its doors in 1959. Great food, competetive prices, exceptional service, in a most enjoyable atmoshpere; was the expectation of Dinah’s Family Restaurants’ original owners. Forty-eight years later and still family owned, Dinah’s delicious homemade food specialties like “Oven Baked Pancakes” & “Famous Fried Chicken” are just two examples of why a dining experience at Dinah’s is step above all others. The Giant Tub Sign, displayed over our Take-Out Department, was the very first Tub Sign in Los Angeles...The Tub is now recognized by many as the symbol for Dinah’s Famous Fried Chicken. I loved their oven-baked apple pancake which is HUGE!! We ate here alot also
Tito's Tacos has provided their loyal and beloved customers with appetizing Mexican food prepared fresh daily from treasured, top-secret recipes since 1959. This delicioso Mexican food has become a longtime family favorite for people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds looking for a traditional South-of-the-Border eating experience without leaving the greater Los Angeles Area. We used to pick -up food from here ALL the time. The food is really good.

Johnnie’s Pastrami was established in 1952 and has become a Southern California landmark. The juke boxes on the counters and booths are all original. So are some of the waitresses.

Pink's was founded by Paul and Betty Pink in 1939 as a pushcart near the corner of La Brea and Melrose. The Great Depression was still having an impact on the country, and money was scarce. People could purchase a chili dog made with Betty's own chili recipe accompanied by mustard and onions on a steamed bun for 10 cents each. As business grew, thanks to Betty's chili and the custom-made Hoffy-brand hot dogs with their natural casings, so did Pink's. The family built the current building in 1946 at 709 North La Brea. Pink's has named several newer menu items after Hollywood celebrities, some of whom can be seen at the restaurant. There are many signed celebrity photographs hanging on the walls inside; some celebrities have signed more than one photo. There is usually a long line of customers in front despite the lack of parking in the area. The often slow-moving line is viewed by some as part of the attraction at Pink's, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the stand becomes packed with club and concert goers. I've been there, but have never seen a celebrity other than the numerous ones on the walls. They are the best!!

The Helms Bakery in Culver City, California was a notable industrial bakery of Southern California that operated from 1931 to 1969. In 1926, Paul Helms of New York took an early retirement for health reasons and moved his family to Southern California and its mild climate. Helms started construction on a building between Washington and Venice Boulevards in 1930 and, on March 2, 1931, the Helms Bakery opened with 32 employees and 11 delivery coaches (trucks). By the next year, the Helms Bakery had become the "official baker" of the 1932 Summer Olympics when Paul Helms won a contract to supply bread for the 1932 games in Los Angeles. Early Helms vehicles sported the Olympic symbol, and it also appeared on, and was mentioned in, the Helms logo on the bread wrappers. This was about a block where I lived in elementary school
