Pinterest is an online pinboard.
Organize and share things you love.
This is Board II of II boards. The first one is full, so I created a Board II. All new pins will be pinned on this board, but there is still plenty to see on Board I. I have strugged with an eating disorder for over 30 years. Once, it starts it does become an addiction and defense against feeling. I am currently working in therapy to address what has taken so much from my life. I have been in therapy for many years. I am also planning to apply to a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology...yes, even at my age!! Specific issues and diagnoses are on the boards for Depression & Suicide, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and Feelings/Thoughts which are all on the boards near the top. Near the bottom of the page are boards that are specific to Self Injury, Eating Disorders and Sexual Abuse. Please take a look at the Mental Health Videos, at the top of the page, they are quite interesting and informative. Some of the videos only show the description and the play symbol, but if you click on the play symbol it will play the video. Also, check out the videos at the top of the page for information on other diagnoses and symptoms. Please check my board, Advocacy ~ Clothing & More for items that are available for purchase.
It should be weight cycling industry as no one actually stays slim, it's based on repeat business.

Is an average size 14 really so much worse than size 6 that you have to diet your ass off? Do you really find this girl that unattractive? You know, you don't have to be a waif to be healthy.

Some people are built skinny. Some people are built curvy. You can't change your body shape, no matter what you eat or how much you exercise. Some people would have to be on their death bed in order to look like the girl on the left. Down with body ignorance and hatred. Down with "thinspo". Embrace your curves, girls.

Angela Hill In one comment you express to us that no one can change their body shape, some are just built that way. But in another you compare thin girls to death. Then in another you say down with ignorance and hatred? Then you say "embrace your curves." How about, "embrace your body, girls." Not the best message written here.
Coleen Uyehara It makes perfect sense for someone trying to recover from an eating disorder and the thought patterns that are irratic due to the nature of the disorder
"Your diet tips = My eating disorder STOP #thinspo #pinterest #antithinspo" AMEN, screw all the dumb people that post thinspo and think it's a great lifestyle... Only an idiot would wish for this lifestyle...

On February 4, 1983, less than a month before her 33rd birthday, Karen Carpenter suffered heart failure at her parents' home in Downey, California. She was taken to Downey Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead twenty minutes later. The Los Angeles coroner gave the cause of death as "heartbeat irregularities brought on by chemical imbalances associated with anorexia nervosa."

I Am A Survivor $146.00 Stamped with the words "I AM A SURVIVOR" inside, this beautiful sterling cuff is a positive affirmation for anyone who has survived a major life challenge. The geometric symbols for mountains on the top of this heavy solid sterling bracelet represents the hurdles that have been overcome, and the challenges that are being faced with strong optimism.

Seriously. Stop it. It sure screws up those struggling to recover from an eating disorder.

“I remember when I was doing Rent and I was too thin, and I was doing that on purpose because I’m dying, I’m a HIV+ drug addict. I remember having to eat raw food and doing all this work to make sure I could stay thin… And I remember everyone asking me when I was doing press for the movie, “what did you do to get so thin? You looked great!” and I’m like, “I looked emaciated.” It’s a form of violence in the way that we look at women and how we expect them to look and be, for… what’s sake? Not health, not survival, not enjoyment of life, but just so that you can look ‘pretty’. I’m constantly telling girls all the time, “everything’s airbrushed, everything’s retouched, to the point of just that it’s never even asked, and none of us look like that.” - Rosario Dawson

It's normal to miss the eating disorder, but it's important to remember that it will kill you if you return to it.

Coleen Uyehara For someone recovering from an eating disorder, it triggers wanting to starve again. I almost died from anorexia. http://www.youtube.com...
A Weigh Out, and its founding organization Acoria Eating Disorder Treatment, have been working with emotional, compulsive, and binge eating issues since 1993. Founder Ellen Shuman is the Vice President of the Binge Eating Disorder Association and Co-Chair of the Academy for Eating Disorders Special Interest Group on “Health at Every Size“. A Weigh Out is not a diet or weight loss website. We strongly believe that healthy people come in all shapes and sizes. Our emphasis is on healthy, balanced living; emotional, physical, nutritional, and spiritual health, not on how much you happen to weigh on any given day! There’s so much more to life!

This is for all the "I'll be happy when my thighs no longer touch" girls. Almost everyone's thighs touch... but photo editors usually airbrush out the insides of women's thighs to get that certain "look." This is Minka Kelly. She's tiny, tiny, tiny. Her thighs touch. She is not a failure as a woman. #attainable #beauty #thin #skinny #real

Original image on left, touched-up image on right. What if women knew that the bodies they idolized in print were fabrications? Do you have a belly and thighs? So does this model. #Feminism #Model

"Former model Twiggy, photoshopped to oblivion in an Olay ad. I motion for a revolution that rejoices in aging." Seconded. I'm pretty fucking sure her secret to brighter eyes is photoshop.

Apparently her head was pasted onto another woman's body.

My Body Gallery. You can plug in your hgt, wgt, pant/shirt sizes and see what other women who are the same size look like...thus giving you a more accurate body image.

If you really find this beautiful, go ahead and follow those steps you have been seeing up all over pinterest that support anorexia. This is an unhealthy woman in need of medical care for her anorexia. I appologize for the this photo being a bit risque. But so many woman out there are hurting themselves phsically and mentally by how they are treating their bodies. You are beautiful no matter what you look like, you don't need to ruin your health to prove anything to anyone or yourself. You can beautiful just the way you are, not the way the world portrays so many women to be.

"This what I don't want to end up like!! Motivation to stay thin and beautiful!!" Saw this pin with the above caption. I'm sad for this person. The woman on this picture is gorgeous! This is what a beautiful woman looks like. NOT like a stick figure!

Lori Triba Wow. That IS a sorry statement! Most men would LOVE to have a woman like this as well!
Coleen Uyehara And that was called beautiful. Marilyn Monroe would have been a size 16 in today's sizes.

New York Times - Patient Voices: Eating Disorders. Perfect anti-thinspo for those of us with visual impairments. Just listen to their stories. Love that this article uses audio recordings - may still be difficult for someone who is fully blind to navigate the page, though they do play automatically in order.
