"You know how good it feels to turn your face to the sun? That warm, life-giving quality is one of the things that makes yellow very healing. It's a color of hope and clear thinking. Yellow makes you feel there are possibilities. Suddenly you see things in a new light." —Kate Smith. Paint by Pratt & Lambert.

Minty shades are seen in this old memorabilia. Book covers, drawings and tin kitchenware provide different shades of bluish-green colors.

Brown is that color that will never go out of style and preference. The color of the woods, the color of earth, brown comes in an endless offering of shades. We are inspired by home-sewn pillow cases and vintage fabrics.

Despite the recent over exploration of the preppy and collegiate fashion, we are still intrigued by vintage college wear and the original colors it was offered in – deep shade of purple and eggplant, coral pinks and mustard yellows.

In continuation of exploring the American heritage, we can not ignore the patriotic shades of the American flag and vintage homeware items promoting patriotic sentiment. Red, blue and in this case, off-white, create a completely new and fresh palette

As we continue to explore American heritage and all is has to offer, we are still intrigued by plaid, checks and stripes of all sorts. The older and more classic, the better. We are inspired by these basic color combinations and color choices that give these patterns so much depth. Explore different shades of blue and navy in combination with aged reds and burnt browns.

Used fishing nets offer subtle colors that remind us of the ocean floor. The matte finish of the nets absorbs the colors in a unique way that allows for the colors to offer their full spectrum. Shades of grey, blue, green and teal are reminiscent of the ocean environment. We also look at vintage textiles for color shades and color combinations.

The collection is called Super Chroma, inspired by Professor Albert H. Munsell, who created a "rational way to describe color." Instead of using names, which Munsell believed was "foolish," he came up with a method involving numbers. Under his system, colors are also categorized by "chroma," or how saturated they are, so Super Chroma means especially pure in hue.

"There's a trend toward being unpretentious and relaxed and real, and people like airy spaces. The way Scandinavians bring light into a room, having these long dark winters, is amazing. People seem to like the simplicity of the historical Gustavian pieces, and the contemporary furniture is novel and a little bit wacky and very well crafted," says designer Alexandra Angle.
