Strawberry Pyramid. Build a pyramid planter for your strawberries. Each hole in the concrete block will hold more than enough soil for a strawberry plant. Wooden pyramid options I've seen waste too much soil under unused space. Once the plants grow in you will have a nice strawberry terrace effect. If you just make a border of blocks and don't terrace out the center, fill it with soil to plant some herbs or veggies. - Love it! This is the closest I have seen to what I want!

Donielle I want to do these for raised beds and then plant either flowers or beans or something in the holes.

Test Your Soil's pH with Vinegar: Sprinkle some vinegar on a handful of dirt. If it fizzes, the soil is alkaline.

Aimee {Chapel Hill to Chickenville} Doesn't it just chap you? All of our roosters were drop dead gorgeous! The poor hens, not so much. Course, the roosters are the ones that are long gone and our hens are here to stay. I don't know what breed he is, but it's a great photo.

Carol Straquadine He's a black copper maran - the female gives a dark chocolate egg that is very rich. I have one of these and he is very elegant!

Newspaper weeds away: Plant your plants in the ground, work the nutrients in your soil. Then wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go, cover with mulch, and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

Ruth Stout's System. Mulch is the key to easier gardening. I tried lasagna gardening and square foot gardening and old-fashioned gardening, and deep mulch is my favorite by a country mile.
