Thanks to a Hunger Games fan site in France we now have this much better quality scan of Katniss from the Empire Magazine article that’s out in the UK at the moment. This picture is of Katniss at the fence line of District 12.

Simon Beaufoy (“Slumdog Millionaire,” “127 Hours”) is writing the script for “Catching Fire.” Gary Ross, who directed “Hunger Games,” will also direct the sequel and is supervising the writing of the script. Both Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours were, in my opinion, superbly crafted films, and it’s wonderful news to hear that such a talented writer is tackling the script for the first of The Hunger Games sequels. With Gary Ross directing and supervising the script, and Josh Hutcherson already confirmed to be on board for Catching Fire, things are looking good for the franchise and it’s not even March yet!

Josh: They had a full life-sized dummy of one of our tributes that had gotten killed by a Tracker Jacker, and basically it’s all swollen and gnarly-looking and mangled, and Jennifer was out of her trailer so I took the dummy and put it inside her bathroom in her trailer. I wasn’t there for the big moment when she saw it, which I can’t believe I missed, but I’ve been told that she actually peed her pants in reaction to it. So, I was pretty proud of myself and amazed that someone actually peed their pants in fear, because I didn’t know that happened. ———————- Jennifer: Pranks. Oh yeah, Josh, he took the dummy from one of the tributes that dies from the Tracker Jackers’ sting that is completely deformed and put it on my toilet, shut the door and [had it] holding a toilet paper roll, just for added effect. I’m in my trailer and open the bathroom door and scream and my friend grabs me and had to say “It’s fake, it’s fake, it’s fake!” I hate him. I still haven’t gotten him back for that, actually. I don’t know what to do to get him back for something like that. I’d have to find a real dead body.

Last of all, they show District 12. Prim being called, me running forward to volunteer. You can’t miss the desperation in my voice as I shove Prim behind me, as if I’m afraid no one will hear and they’ll take Prim away. But, of course, they do hear. I see Gale pulling her off me and watch myself mount the stage. The commentators are not sure what to say about the crowd’s refusal to applaud. The silent salute. One says that District 12 has always been a bit backward but that local customs can be charming. As if on cue, Haymitch falls off the stage, and they groan comically. Peeta’s name is drawn, and he quietly takes his place. We shake hands. They cut to the anthem again, and the pro-gram ends.
