This is the work of Harry Frees. A pioneer of his time, Mr. Frees specialized in animal photography without the use of special effects. His career blossomed at the beginning of the 20th century, with the help of his mother who sewed all the costumes. Mr. Frees simply waited patiently for the right shots to come along. I know when I try to get cats to spin a jumprope, I often have to wait days.
