Renée G. The quick recipe we used to make had CoMS in it, but it also had a can of drained ro-tel tomatoes in it. It was also called the Angelle's recipe, after Angelle's restaurant in Henderson, LA. Supposedly, it originated there.

Renée G. I just buy frozen dumplings. No fuss, no mess, and more like my great grandmother's and aunt's homemade than the biscuit ones.
Rhema Buker I wish my husband liked chicken and dumplings! I haven't had it since I was a kid! Definitely a comfort food :) Looks yummy!
Mary I have used a wide variety of dumplings as well including the frozen ones. I love drop dumplings the best for chicken & dumplings, but this recipe is for a biscuit dumpling. I did also include frozen in my variation in the original post however. They are indeed handy!
Mary Rhema, you sure don't hear someone disliking chicken & dumplings much! I think you should make a small pot just for yourself. :)

Kim Swieder I made this and it was DELICIOUS! One thing I noticed, though, is that it's better to cook two than to double it. Doubling it seems to throw the texture off.
Renée G. I would have to add some onions and carrots to it, but it looks fabulous.
Mary Glad you enjoyed it Kim. R. Gauthier, there are some variations included in the recipe for veggies.
Stephanie Smith I love this recipe!
Mary Thanks Stephanie!

Jennifer Neyland I made this tonight and it was great. I have made lots of Mary's recipes and they are all really good. I never cooked with shrimp/seafood until finding deepsouthdish.com She is the Paula Deen of cajun/creole cooking!
Mary Aw thanks so much Jennifer - that's so sweet!! What a compliment!

Kathleen Mccart Use the large English muffins!
Mary That would be great Kathleen - any good sturdy bread would work. I found this bread on the day old rack at the store. It had pieces of garlic baked into it and was great!
