Ah, old fashioned bread pudding. A dessert born out of economics and the need to use up stale bread, turned into a delectable, delicious plate of total comfort. You cannot consume a slice of this and help but feel like you just got a big ole hug.

I know many southerners grew up with rolled dumplings {I have those too!} but I grew up with this good ole Old Fashioned Chicken with Fluffy Drop Dumplings - you cannot beat this southern classic stewed chicken with fluffy dumplings in the comfort meal category.

Pure comfort. Chicken and Noodles - one word of caution. A bowl or two of this & you'll be so fat and happy {that's southern for real full} that you probably won't want to do anything but snuggle with your honey for the rest of the night. Perfect for these frigid nights right around the corner now.

In my mind a perfect pound cake like Grandma's is moist, tender, light, fluffy, creamy, and buttery, all at the same time. You just cannot get that out of a box. This recipe meets all of that criteria.

Classic southern style green beans made with potatoes, and seasoned with bacon and onion.

Sliced potatoes are tossed with onion in seasoned flour, then fried in a bit of hot oil, covered and smothered with milk for a slow simmer. Simple, delicious comfort food.
