I have challenged my readers to only own beautiful clothes in 2012. As part of that challenge, I will create two wardrobe capsules. The inspiration for this capsule is a 1950s "lady who lunches." The suits are professional but feminine. I can wear them when I teach, attend a meeting, or go to church.
Vintage Simplicity Pattern #3129 The jacket of this ensemble looked terrible on me but I know of a modern pattern that has a similar look to the dress that I can use as a core piece of my capsule.

This is a basic double breasted suit with welts added near the top and an asymmetrical line added below the bottom button. I haven't quite figured out the belt, yet, though.
