Lord Chancellor’s purse, worn and tarnished but still an extraordinary example of the embroiderer’s art, that belonged to Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764). Lord Chancellor of England during the reign of George II and one of the longest serving. (Wimpole Hall, Cambridgeshire).
