A lot of photographers pretend that gear is just a distraction from their art. I think that the tools used in the craft of photography are at least as much fun as the art itself. There; I admitted it.

The M Monochrom is a rangefinder-style mirrorless camera, complete with an 18-megapixel, full-frame CCD sensor, ISO range up to 10,000, SD-based storage, and a 2.5-inch display. Many photo nerds argue that a dedicated B sensor will allow for shaper, more detailed imaging thanks to the lack of need for a color filter and ability to pickup more light.

Ikea's very cool Cardboard Camera: Shoots/stores up to 40 images, uses AA batteries (which, if you can find them hiding in the remote control, are a lot more convenient than clunky camera batteries which require special chargers), and it even features a super-handy swing-out USB plug for downloading your pure photo gold.

Black Magic's crazy new 2.5K Cinema Camera features 16-stops (!) of dynamic range, and a bare-bones design that is elegant in its simplicity. Very cool.

Samyang 24mm f/3.5 tilt-shift lens. Finally a budget tilt/shift lens for Nikons!
12 likes 3 comments 19 repins
Jordan Berman define "budget."
David Silvernail Most Tilt Shifts start around $1900 and up, if this is $800 or less, it's a budget tilt-shift. IF this comes out, I would consider getting one with an FT1 for my V1.
Geoff Dudgeon @Jordan Berman: I'm very eager to find out ;)
As much fun as Instagram can be, it's still missing something: actual prints. Instaprint ($400) aims to fix this problem by hooking up to your Wi-Fi network and printing out any image it comes across containing a specific location or hashtag. This means your friends can get in on the action as well, turning the Instaprint into a focal point of your next party, gathering, or beer bash.

NIKON D800: Nikon's latest full frame body is a 36.3 megapixel monster, spitting out 212 mb TIFFs, and playing equally friendly with 1080P H.264 video; all in a package that's a little smaller and lighter than the D700. Amazing.

Nikon's venerable 85mm/f1.8 was already a gem of a portrait lens. The recent update brings the price down to $499, while adding AF-S and a sleek new design (consistent with their G-line of lenses).

Nikon's new monster, the D4, has ISO like crazy (204K), in-camera HDR (my iPhone made me a believer that this is a good thing), and 1080P HD video (finally). Also, I'd like one please. $5999

Olympus PEN E-P3 12.3 MP: @Ben Silbermann just got one of these and it's an amazing camera. The UI is such an advance over anything I've ever used. I particularly appreciate the capacitive touch screen, and the ability to focus and shoot with one touch anywhere in the frame. The first truly modern camera I've seen outside of a smartphone.

Nikon V1: EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangeable Lens). I'm really excited to see some reviews!
8 likes 4 comments 18 repins
Geoff Dudgeon The more I read about this camera/system, the less interested I am. There are far too few manual control and the chip is just to small to justify the cost above a quality compact. If you're looking for an EVIL camera, you're probably better off with the Olympus system: http://amzn.to/pFGT3v
hypnotiza I like it, but I agree with Geoff Dudgeon. I think they are missing the boat a bit. I'd rather they invested in creating a true competitor to Olympus, Sony, and even Samsung's Micro 4/3rds system with the F-mount lens adapter. I think somebody at Nikon needs a good slap.
Geoff Dudgeon Such a wasted opportunity too. If they came out with an amazing EVIL product that had the F-mount adapter, I'd buy one in a heartbeat (as would a lot of people with a big investment in Nikon glass).
hypnotiza I'd love to hear the reasoning behind not competing with other guys. I wonder if they'll be surprised by the reaction, and the confusion of not creating a new micro 4/3rds sensor.

Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR Lens. A great (affordable) update to a classic. A steal at $220. You've been putting off buying a prime lens for a while; just go do it!
15 likes 4 comments 31 repins
Jeppe Engell Do you know what the specifics changes/updates are in comparisons with older versions are?
Geoff Dudgeon Because it's AF-S, there are two main benefits: it will work on lower end bodies that do not have a focus motor built-in; and your focusing is going to be much quicker. Nikon also touts that AF-S lenses are quieter when focusing, so this would be a bonus benefit for anyone shooting video with these lenses.
Geoff Dudgeon It's worth noting that there is one negative difference between this and the old 50/1.8 (though it likely won't affect many people): some shooters prefer to have a dedicated aperture ring when they're shooting manual. I've never met one but people scream about this on camera boards. On "G" series lenses (such as this one), the aperture ring is removed so you need to use the body controls.
