If you haven't tried it already, Dr Bronner's is a completely biodegradable vegetable based soap. You can use it MANY different ways. I like the baby mild one and add my own essential oils as desired for body wash , shaving cream, dish soap and to make my own cleaning solutions. -Onyx

Here's a nontoxic but effective way to clean your tub from Martha Stewart: Add one teaspoon of liquid soap and several drops of an antibacterial essential oil (such as tea tree, eucalyptus, rosemary, or peppermint) to one cup of baking soda. Add just enough water to form a paste, and use it with a sponge or brush to scour bathtub surfaces. I make this with Dr Bronner's unscented soap and tea tree oil- Onyx

Good Green Kitchens was written by a local author and not only offers good advice on green products but features local Bay Area designers as well.

This understated but amazing book shares really simple design solutions to the things in our homes that needlessly that take up a lot of our time and energy. PS- find it used to save $ and paper.
