Ruth Kilner 1090 kilojoules - about 260 cals
Emily Segal @Ruth Kilner, what are kilojoules?? Did you get my reply to your post btw, asking for photos and what not?
Ruth Kilner Calories and joules are just different ways of measuring energy. Generally, calories tend to be used for food/energy expended by people, joules for everything else. It's been a long time since physics class! I think all my semi-decent photos are on facebook, so I'll download one or 2 and send to you. Sorry for being so slow about it.
Ruth Kilner Energy can be measured in either joules or calories. A joule (J) can be defined as the energy used when 1 kilogram (kg) is moved 1 metre (m) by the force of 1 newton (N). A calorie (cal) can be defined as the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water from 14.5 to 15.50C. In practice, both units are used just as different units are used to measure liquids, eg pints, litres. One calorie is equivalent to 4.184 joules.
