“I am satisfied that happiness in marriage is not so much a matter of romance as it is an anxious concern for the comfort and well-being of one’s companion. Any man who will make his wife’s comfort his first concern will stay in love with her throughout their lives and through the eternity yet to come” Happily married for nearly 67 years!-

"10 important things, that I'm still trying to learn" 1. All children are capable. 2. Presume competence, in every person that you meet. 3. Almost anything can be washed or repaired. 4. Move at the speed of kids. 5. There is no 'right' way to do anything. 6. Allow for exploration. 7. Find ways to experience abundance. 8. Allow yourself to learn from children. 9. Find your own way to play. 10. Don't plant your radishes too close together, or, the wisdom of thinning. * Text of #5: 5. "There is no 'right' way to do anything. Just as Reggio-inspired educators talk about the 100 languages of children, there are an infinite number of ways to parent and teach. What works for one family will sound ridiculous to another. So as you let your children express themselves in hundreds of ways, allow yourself the same grace."

I LOVE this idea >> Mind Jar. The goal is that when they are feeling out of control, they shake the jar, then sit and watch the glitter settle in the water. When the glitter settles, we finish our meditation. This one is a really great technique to use in lieu of timeout.
