A strike over a ban on hand holding in Feb 2011. The school head called it "silly." Mr O'Hara called the strike at the for 840-pupil school "silly". He said: "We prefer that the children are not too demonstrative towards each other. If we see students being overly-familiar we deal with it in an appropriate and tactful way." He added: "Some students seem to have got the idea there is a new rule where they cannot have any contact with each other. It may have come from something a member of staff said, but it has been taken way out of proportion."

FeeFee,RN Kathryn, I'm sorry if this stirred up emotions for you. Thanks for your comment. I think it will bring awareness to others. You should not have to be afraid for your son to be himself in the world. Change is coming. I agree with Jennie, the next generation is SO much more open minded and accepting differences of all kinds in others. We are finding more kids have handicaps and have special needs, more people are coming out of the closet about being gay, children are taught in schools now about different cultures and their customs, foods, dress and to appreciate and accept their differences rather than cast them out. The white dog, Lily, had to have his eyes taken out when he was 2 years old due to an illness. The other dog, Maddison, has guided him around for the past 5 years, never leaving his side. aww, bless.
