Shelby Harris Here is the wikipedia link about the photograph. It was not meant to denounce religion. This photo changed art for ever because the artist was paid money that was from the NEA, National Endowment of the Arts, an organization dedicated to the arts that is from tax-payer's money. Because of this uproar, the NEA pretty much only sponsors artists to paint flowers; we lost our creative rights. But, to all of you that are so deeply offended by this (I can see why), you can take comfort in knowing that the photo got damaged while it was on display in France in April of 2011
Kat Omnes And here's a question, if the cross is TRULY a hallowed and sacred image of an ultimate sacrifice, why do people wear it as jewelry? Why is it worn with pretty dresses and put in jewelry boxes with animal pendants and gaudy stones? Why is it on screen savers and bumper stickers next to cute puppies and political slogans? Why is it all over pinterest right next to images of dream houses, makeup tips, and crafts? Isn't that equally disrespectful and disgusting, to mass produce an image of a sacred death?
Leslie McLean It's not about the death...well, for me it isn't...I don't particularly like crucifixes b/c it leaves Jesus on the cross and he died and rose again, but again it is important to others. Kat, I understand your point of view, but you seem to take an "all or nothing"approach. You are making generalized statements about all Christians and generalized statements about all portryals of the cross and it's not accurate. I agree that some Christians are self-righteous and don't act as Christ would toward others; however, I am a Christian and it is unfair to catagorize me by my religion with those that act that way. I agree that a sacred symbol is too often used flippantly, but I also feel that I can wear a cross because it is important to me as who I am in Christ and what He did for me. You have valid points but too generalized and unfair to others.
Leah Wright Oh my gosh awesome.

Unbelievable! A Nude of Kate Moss by Irving Penn was just auctioned off for $91,000 with the money going to charity.

FeeFee,RN this was pinned because 91 THOUSAND dollars went to charity for it! wow.
Allison Sutherland And not one comment on the money raised for charity. Too many concerned with bashing the photo and the woman in it. Shame.
Bubba Jenkins I got what you were posting it for! Silly people, lol.
Jessica Snyder The things I could do with 91,000 bucks....I could help so many people
Erica Garrett I got that it was raised for charity. Don't care. With money like she makes she could donate without auctioning a nude of her body off.
beauty.

Kelly Vaught True-all calicos are female. Remember that one from high school biology :-)
Dawn Poague This is a tortoise shell cat...Edgar Allan Poe had one and so did my daughter. They are an amazing breed
Vicki Doré no...not true. there ARE male calicos found but they are indeed rare. those calicos that are male, are sterile. again, a male calico is rare but they are out there. you can do a sear ch 'male calico cat' to confirm this.
Anne Peasley Male calicos are known as "money cats."
Jenna Watson No there are male calico cats but they are mutants. female calico cats get their mixture of color from their XX chromosomes, in order for a male to be calico he has to have XXY chromosomes. so instead of being normal and having XY he has an extra X so they are out there but rare!

Angie Teal I love all things "wagon wheel days". Definitely believe my past life was lived as Jesse James's gal.
Before the recent discovery of the Cornelius photo, this was the oldest known photograph portrait, made by Dr. Joseph Draper of New York in 1840. The subject is his sister, Anna Katherine Draper.

Robert Cornelius, self-portrait, Oct. or Nov. 1839, approximate quarter plate daguerreotype. The back reads, "The first light picture ever taken." This self-portrait is the first photographic portrait image of a human ever produced.

Yesenia Hernandez The messy hair before Pattinson made it cool
"Boulevard du Temple", taken by Louis Daguerre in late 1838 or early 1839, was the first-ever photograph of people. It is an image of a busy street, but because exposure time was over ten minutes, the city traffic was moving too much to appear. The exceptions are the two people in the bottom left corner, one who stood still getting his boots polished by the other long enough to show up in the picture.
