Roco Van Hecke created this tote bag design as part of our Blank Canvas Challege. Re-pin it to vote and visit www.onekingslane.... for contest rules and more!
Unknown Spanish artist; 17th century. This is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago, and I always loved the totally incongruous-looking text emerging from the dude’s mouth.
Ekranoplan; super weird and vying for the title of my favorite airplane design ever. Lots more pictures at the source site.

‘Another little sneak peak of my “Star Wars 1999” side project, which is a remake of the prequels only using SW information prior to Lucas’s prequels.’ — Aaron Diaz. Dang it, I am not supposed to like Star Wars, but that sounds like a marvelous idea.

“ The man claimed that the planet was called Aocicinori and that it was the 63rd in a system of 96 planets. He showed off maps of the world, as well as some colorful illustrations of the creatures that lived there. The Rice University article reveals that these materials were created by Scotland L. Moore, an outpatient from the Houston State Psychiatric Institute.” news.discovery.co...

This is somewhere in Ôsaka. Unfortunately that’s all I can find out about it!
The Dymaxion projection is pretty cool, too, because it is specially adjusted to work well for Earth. I like the acceptance that sometimes it is preferable to specialize your design, especially in the case of, like, *the only planet people live on*.
Pierce Quincuncial; by far my favorite map projection.

George Washington, by Alfred Maurer. Struck me as an example of just how accurately Cubism can resemble a familiar face.

Sarah 'splain what you love about it? (Not saying I don't also love it, just wondering why YOU do...)
William Van Hecke I think it's the combination of beautiful architecture and the wear of years; the combination of glorious religious iconography and practical civil engineering; the combination of precise, expressive painting with the honesty to portray something imperfect; the combination of proud, martial men and innocent idleness. Never contemplated that before! Thanks for asking.
