The Richmond Branch Library in San Francisco. Sweet spot for reading, writing, being.
Outer Richmond, San Francisco...view from our old house on 38th Avenue. What I miss: the smell of the ocean, the feel of the fog, the sound of the animals in the zoo at night, the litany of the neighbors with whom we shared a wall playing Mah Jong and calling in their dog..."Here, Buster Boy..."
Ocean beach, San Francisco, from the Year of Fog photo tour, by Robert Owen. My take: Ocean Beach is a study in contrasts, a true urban beach, a place of immense natural wonder perched on the edge of a gritty city. Fogbound most of the time, ravaged by the gigantic waves of the frigid Pacific, a place where city-sanctioned bonfires occur nightly and deaths (by sand suffocation and by drowning) occur annually, Ocean Beach is emblematic of the dramatic beauty and restlessness of San Francisco. Beloved by surfers, dog-walkers, families, homeless persons, and graffiti artists...a microcosm of life in the city by the bay.
