•Lollipops (or suckers) – The big swirly ones are stunning to look at and add a real POP to the design…But don’t forget you can add in some small ones as well like Blow Pops and Tootsie Roll Pops (or a favorite of mine..Jolly Rancher! Yum!) too. The Rock Candy on lollipop sticks would look amazing as well! Cake Pops may work too! See my post here for instructions on how to make your own. •A container to display them in – So many options here! A small fish bowl, a chunky glass square vase, a ...
Tea Parties of Children: Tea parties are fun whether you use a real tea service or a plastic tea party set. Food for a children's tea party can include traditional favorites prepared in small bites and carefully displayed. Use doilies and decorative platters to present the foods. Arrange boxes under the tablecloth to raise plates to different heights. Embellish the table with silk, or real flowers and candy. Invite dolls and stuffed toys to fill out the guest list if necessary. Beverages: Serve a variety of herb or iced tea. Provide sugar cubes, milk and lemon so they can receive an authentic grown-up experience. Apple juice can be substituted for tea without losing any of the atmosphere. Pink lemonade or hot cocoa could also be offered instead of tea. Finger Sandwiches: Dainty finger sandwiches can be prepared with regular bread and their favorite filling. Roll the bread with a rolling pin first, then spread peanut butter and jelly, or tuna fish. Remove the crusts and then cut with cookie cutters. A variety of small shaped sandwiches look fancy when presented on a doily-lined plate. Mini bagels spread with cream cheese is another sandwich idea, or try butter crackers spread with vegetable dip. Fruit and Vegetables: Prepare a tray of bite-sized pieces of fruit and vegetables. Cut with small cookie cutters or use a melon baller to create small chunks. Use cocktail toothpicks to serve. Small containers of dip can be set on the table such as flavored yogurt for the fruit, or sour cream dip for the vegetables. Set up a miniature crockpot with melted chocolate to dip strawberries or animal cookies. Pastries: Cut brownies with a small decorative cookie cutter to create bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle the top with powdered sugar. Place on a pastry platter with an assortment of cookies, mini muffins or even mini donuts. Slices of cake can be individually placed in coffee filters for serving. Place chocolates or fruit throughout the platter for decoration and an added treat. Candy Jewelry: Kids can make their own jewels for the tea party. Provide bowls of O-shaped cereal and candies with holes in the center. Give each child a piece of shoelace licorice with a piece of candy knotted at one end. Let them thread the different jewels on their necklace or bracelet. Once complete, tie a tight knot. Elastic string or cord can be used in place of the licorice.
