Organize and share things you love.
I would love to be 100% green in all the things I do, but that simply isn’t realistic for me. To celebrate the “soggy” in me (vs. the crunchy/green part of me), I’m sharing 20 green things that I don’t do.

Natural and Frugal Ways to freshen your home, and homemade peppermint room spray

Autumn Nordstrom Peppermint Room Spray You will need: 2 cups hot water 2 T. baking soda 10-12 drops of peppermint essential oil Combine hot water and baking soda. Stir until dissolved. Add in the peppermint oil. Place in a re-purposed spray bottle and use liberally whenever a room needs a little freshening up. Notes: Give the bottle a good shake before you use it each time. The baking soda helps to add an extra deodorizing boost. You can play around with adding a bit more if you like, but adding too much will clog up your spray nozzle. Feel free to experiment with different oils and extracts! The sky is the limit! I love this spray because it definitely freshens a room, but isn’t overpowering or “perfumey”
Holly Wiseman Where do to purchase these essential oils?
Andrea Green Holly, you can find essential oils in a natural food store or a Whole Foods. If you don't have one of those nearby, Young Living Oil Lady is a great online resource! :)
Laura Whiteleather You can also make smelling salts by mixing rock salt and 5-10 drops of peppermint oil. I put it in an old film canister and keep in my purse. Good for headaches also.
Great green idea! Leave a note for the janitor asking them to only empty the trash when full. In English and Spanish.
