spaghetti (colored with tempura paint) painting: the children reach in, grab a handful and fling it at the paper on the wall. Some will stick and some will fall. Its great to start while the spaghetti is still warm because it feels so good.

The recipe on this link is for a small batch - here is the classroom size batch, and we use a bit of baby oil in it as well to add a really smooth and soft texture. The recipe: 4 cups water, 4 cups flour, 1 cupsalt, 2 tb cooking oil, 4 tsp cream of tartar, food coloring. Combine ingredients. Cook, stirring constantly, until most of the moisture is absorbed. Store in a covered container or Ziploc – does not need refrigeration. Add a bit of baby oil to get a softer texture.

Cloud Dough (the stuff at hands-on museums) - 8 cups flour & 1 cup baby oil. It feels like flour as you run your fingers through it, but it's moldable.
