Lisa Stumpf I suppose you could put the bottles in cork side down, but most "corks" are now synthetic, won't dry out. I've also seen one where instead of dowels, the neck goes in the hole and the bottle just sticks our !

Lori Biddle *LOL* Good thinking! Oddly enough, I was watching Design on a Dime this weekend, and they made a rack where the bottles went in at the opposite angle.
Michael Kamis It takes a long time for the corks to dry out. If a wine tastes bad then it probably was bad to begin with. I've built one of these before and you could always drill holes into the plank so the neck of the bottle can fit in keeping the cork wet.
tm hagen Good thinking, but those dowels need some attention. They don't look too primative. A little staining will help.
