Pinterest is an online pinboard.
Organize and share things you love.
Infographics can be powerful communications tools for fundraisers. Done well, they can express complex issues in a compelling way and demonstrate impact. A form of curation, they can also demonstrate a charity's expertise on its subject. They are one way that charities and nonprofits can harness 'big data' - theirs, and that of others. They also tend to be shared widely via digital media. Which fundraising infographics have we missed? Find us at www.fundraising.co.uk.
Kiva's Annual Report 2011 fits wonderfully onto one page - and it's a one page infographic! Very clear and easy to use. And a noticeable 'please donate now' button in the right-hand navigation bar. Via @Marc Gurp

Charity sector insurance specialist Ecclesiastical's infographic isn't designed specifically for fundraising, more to highlight the threat to charities from public liability claims. But it could be handy to educate the public why charities do have admin costs and do need to find funds to pay for insurance.

Infographic focusing on the statistics of the March 2011 tsunami and earthquake which hit Japan. Clear calls to action at the bottom about how to help. But I wonder how well it functions as a fundraising tool? It is almost too divorced from the human suffering for it to work well in that way.

Not an official Oxfam infographic, but an indication of how it and other charities could present internal data to stakeholders like donors. BUT, the image isn't as good as it could be: the circles aren't relative in terms of their value. And nor even are the proportions of the colours for 89% and 11%. Viewer beware! This infographic sparked a suggestion by Ivan Wainwright about whether database and CRM companies should add the functionality to generate infographics: blog.itforchariti...

@WaterAid's Water Works (waterworks.me) campaign infographic. Includes ROI on investment in sanitation. First interactive infographic I've seen - roll over the dots for extra info, a video, a link etc. (This effect doesn't work on Pinterest, I'm afraid, only on the original). Suggested by @LucyInnovation.

Anne McCrossan This is exactly the kind of story all charities should be telling about themselves these days. Credible data, brought to life, used to create a compelling, interactive experience. And yet I bash my head against a wall with some clients on this kind of thing. Thanks for posting it, Howard.
Howard Lake Thanks Ann. I agree - of course. And it's such a flexible format. I can see this template being used for fundraising asks, reporting back to funders, thank you cards to volunteers, posters for local campaign groups etc. And in its digital form - the rollovers can be sounds or videos. All no doubt existing Water Aid content. Maybe if you show them this though more charities might 'get it'. Here's hoping.
Anne McCrossan You know Howard, you've read my mind :)
WaterAid Thanks for your comments on this!
