[4 STARS] - "Rubber" - There is a lot of dry humor, a lot of “why did that just happen” followed by “Oh My goodness… did that just happen?!?!” sort of moments. All in all, a very entertaining film.

[3 STARS] - "Hobo with a Shotgun" - More terrifying than comedic. This film is smothered in gore. A wild time, but short on the laughs. Dark and insane, this film is mental... and a bit of a guilty pleasure. : )

[5 STARS] - "Trollhunter" - I was incredibly wrong and underestimated this movie beyond any film so far. I love TrollHunter. I watched it. Invited my friends over. And immediately watched this again. You will tell everyone to see this film.

[4 STARS] - "Tucker & Dale Vs. EVIL" - Loved this film. Great mix of Horror and Comedy but never too gory to scare away the everyday viewer. A somewhat family friendly film. (No Sex or Boobs... I think)

[3 STARS] - "Four Rooms" - I don’t know how to review a film like this that inherently isn’t a bad movie, but at the same time I have no idea what audience to direct this towards. Four Rooms is a rompus of a film. It’s everywhere.

[5 STARS] - "Humpday" This was my first Mark Duplass experiecne and I loved it. It's a little slow at times but the execution of this film is so intriguing. Very high improv, very low budget piece. Very enjoyable.

[4 STARS] - "Ink" - So I watched this while I was distracted and the story is a little loose, but the world they create is as engaging as it is complex. I strongly suggest this movie to anyone who enjoys experiencing something new, has heard of Guillermo del Torro, thinks foreign films might be cool, or you're in film school and you've lost an hour of your life to writer's block and you need some inspiration.

[3 STARS] - "The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle" - Watch this movie if you are bored and enjoy artistic execution, if you think story is neat, if you are by yourself and won’t feel rushed as you take your time with this one, you find religion interesting or are perhaps even skeptical of it, you think cookies are too good to be true, or you know a girl who is convinced she’s seen everything.

[3 STARS] - "16 to Life" - Good film, intended for female audience. You'll enjoy this if you can empathize well, otherwise the story is pretty normal, "Sweet 16 & Never Been Kissed".

[4 STARS] - "The Great Buck Howard" - Pretty wholesome more or less and an entertaining film to say the least. If you’re still captivated by the intrigue of illusion and magic, you will probably enjoy this film.

[5 STARS] - "City Island" - I didn’t classify this as an independent film at first glance, but after viewing, this definitely fits in with the Little Miss Sunshine genre of dysfunctional families with a feel good ending. I laughed, cried, and left with a warm heart. Strongly recommend this film.

[3 STARS] - "The Double" - It’s one of those murder mystery chase down the serial killer but there’s a twist kind of films. So if you like things like that, Borne Identity… I don’t know what else. It’s like that though.

[4 STARS] - "Which Way Home" - The concept is fascinating, but it lacked a call to action or direction for growth. More of a showcase film to a very unique and complex culture of kids train-hopping from Central America to the United States.

[5 STARS] - "Man On Wire" - This film is the perfect documentary. Best storytelling since Ira Glass. You won't be able to stop watching this film.

[4 STARS] - "Winters Bone" - It's the girl that's on fire! Except right now she's just super pissed. Jennifer Lawrence is unstoppable in this film. Dark story, but amazing talent.

[5 STARS] - "Exit Through The Gift Shop" - Amazing film. You should have already seen this. Amazing characters and story for a documentary and the footage is stunning. Don't do anything else, just watch this movie.

[4 STARS] - "Elling" - Two roommates from a mental institution try boarding together in the outside world. Quite good. No anxious tension, just quirky problems and emotions.

[5 STARS] - "True Grit" - I saw this in theaters and just loved it. Definitely suggest you push play now.

[5 STARS] - "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" - This might be my new favorite film of all time. It's so great. Irreplaceable.

[4 STARS] - "Blackthorn" - I heard this was an ok film. I agree, but it was somewhat outside my normal interest and it was definitely entertaining. Just felt like some of the acting and story was lacking pizazz. But definitely worth a watch.

[5 STARS] - "Precious" - All I'm saying is that there's a reason this movie attracted so much attention... It's because it's really amazing.

[5 STARS] - "Young@Heart" - Unprecedented. Inspiring documentary about a cover band with the average age of 72. Their arrangement of 'Fix You' will remain with me forever.

[5 STARS] - "Rabbit Hole" - Extremely challenging film with amazing talent. Highly recommended drama, although the topic of content is potentially difficult.

[5 STARS] - "No Impact Man" - A documentary that showcases an experiment in energy consumption. Well made. Fascinating perspective. Recommended.

[5 STARS] - "The Yes Men Fix The World" - Favorite documentary to date. As hilarious as it is effective. A must see.

[5 STARS] - "The High Cost of Living" - Watch this movie and tell your friends about it. But know that I am biased. I thought the film was great but Rotten Tomatoes gives this movie a 60%. Still, for a low budget film, I doubt you’re going to find many that stack up well against “The High Cost of Living.”

[4 STARS] - I’m not sure why the trailer makes this sound like an intense action drama… it’s an emotional uplifting family friendly movie about why Scotland is awesome.
