Gorgeous book, Middle Eastern culture. I love books about the immigration experience, and this one is sad and happy all at once.

I totally bawled through this one. I don't know why - I'd seen the movie and I knew what would happen. But the book is so much BETTER.

A super fun read! It wasn't earth-shattering or anything, but it's a great story. I'll probably keep reading through the series... the last couple chapters were really fun!

If you love Downton Abbey, read this to fill the void until the next season comes out. It was addictive and had me up way late last night. Could have been longer!

Loved this as a contemporary love story. Maybe because it's not all sappy and lovey dovey? Full of British charm, which everyone knows I love.

Snagged an advance copy of this and spent the next couple of days crying my eyes out. Super inspirational and I loved it! Great for book club!

Amazing book, especially if you're obsessed with Middle Eastern culture like me. Story of the upper and lower classes in India.

Can't believe I only read this now! This would be a great book club book -- I love me some historical fiction. Off to find the movie...

Rachael Cain obsessed.
I loved this Crash-esque book, where it was based on short stories that wound around the same character. Love this kind of book that gives you little bites of different lives.

Roughly 17 times scarier than the movie -- totally worth the read, considering it was written in the 1950s. Don't miss the short stories in the back!

Super creepy book about a couple that gives birth to a weird creature-child. Super strange but I really super loved it, actually. Very gothic.

Not as good as the other Boelyn books (I liked Inheritance the best) but worth a read. I just wish it went into the whole Anne debacle but it stops short. Still great if you're obsessed with Tudor England like moi.

Loved it just as much as Time Traveler's Wife! I might have audibly gasped at one part in the book. Good, twisty Friday night read.

Easily the worst book I read in all of 2011 -- and I read A LOT. It was a cute, indie book until the last two chapters and then all of a sudden, incest? Like, where was he going with this? Seriously. It was awful. Avoid.
An interesting WWII book with a surprising twist. Has a "Crash" kind of vibe where you have to piece together the way each person knows each other -- PG warning, though. It's pretty risque.
Oh my goodness this book is funny. It's like Bridget Jones for working moms. When she asks "can one die of ingratitude?" I was laughing and dying and agreeing all at once. Guilty working moms unite!

If Love in the Time of Cholera had a love child with The Thirteenth Tale, this book would be born. And I loved it all!

Pretty much hilarious. Perfect bubble-gum read that feels like hanging out with your bestie for an afternoon!

I love reading this book around the holidays... makes me so thankful for what I have.

This book had me all crying and stuff and that NEVER happens. This would be a fantastic book club read.

Love x 1,000. I know it's technically a youth book, but I'm completely in love with a good fairy tale, complete with the right ending.

Carly Bingham I love this book too! Such a cute, totally gushy romantic book. way better than that twilight crap.
Jacqueline Porter-Curtis Right? That's the way to do a lovey book. I happy sighed. Can't wait to read it to Adds
A stay-up-all-night-reading-under-the-covers book. It's why I'm so tired today!

Getting this out for Halloween! Perfect creepy book sans sparkly vampires.

One of the best books I've ever read. Based on common fairy tales, which sounds lame, but it's not. In my top 10 for sure.

Modern quilting and knitting books make me want to stab myself with a knitting needle This? Amazing. Read this instead of seeing the movie.
I tear up if I think about this too much. I bought it because it seemed like a low key airplane read. It's told by a dog, for heaven's sake. But I ended up loving it and crying when it ended.

*sob* Amazing, melancholy, heartbreaking book. Wouldn't you know it? It's about WWII. Could not stop reading. Cried like a baby. I'm a mush.

Mary Haws I read this last month and bawled through the whole book. It's definitely a must read and then over again!

Nathaly Blalock Yay! I'm so glad you're doing this! I just started reading this and am really liking it so far.
Yup, I actually read this. Just to say that I did. It's complete silliness... Elizabeth Bennett is a zombie hunter. But the story is the same and I never miss a chance to read P&P.

Ashley Mawson Sutherland I read Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter by the same author. It was fun at first but got pretty lame about midway through.
Jacqueline Porter-Curtis Exactly... the novelty wears off and I just ended up skipping to the normal parts. lol.
This is basically an obituary for a man whose entire life revolves around love, it's pursuit and its memory. It's a quick read and worth the time.

Of course more WWII stuff. I cannot stop reading. Follows the lives of three women in their various jobs during the war. Love.

Same author as The Lovely Bones, same gruesome writing. This one isn't as endearing though. The main character is so flawed it was hard for me to connect.

Alice Hoffman is so hit or miss. I ended up liking this one, but I thought it could have been longer. I felt like it ended without closure, which was weird. Still worth the read, though.

Love David Sedaris! Not always PG, but his memoirs and essays make me laugh like a maniac. Which is weird when you're in a waiting room or something.

Fantastic for preteen readers. I thought it was fin, breezy read. Perfect for a flight. Reminded me a lot of Roald Dahl.

Fascinating historical fiction about the first documented "Siamese" twins. It had me doing my own research. They married and had something like 13 kids together. CRAZY.

It was fine. I thought I'd like it more than I actually did. It's the first of a trilogy but I don't think I'll read the rest. It's a little adolescent.

Katie Campbell it's a young adult novel...considering that, it's pretty good!
Jacqueline Porter-Curtis It got a resounding "meh" from me. lol.
A book about old-timey mysteries? Sign me up. I love the way she divulges the ending in the beginning and then winds her way back. Must read if you love historical fiction like me... all swishy dresses and brooding houses.

Kate Morton and me are basically BFFs now. Read three books of hers this summer and they were all dark, gothic novels a la The Thirteenth Tale.

Linda Kulisky I loved Kate Morton's _Forgotten Garden_.
If Helen Fielding and Danny Wallace had a love child, this book would be born. British charmy wit, how I love thee. Super predictable but extra adorable.
Try not to read this while on a dark and scary car trip, like me. So creepy and the hubs even liked it a little!

Harry Potter and Narnia on crack. Not for teens or kids AT ALL, but such a fun read. Can't wait for the next one!

Marry me, Tina Fey. This book must be read aloud. Watch out for hilarity in its finest form. My favorite part is about when people talk about their pets.

Rachael Cain Obsessed with Downton, I will definitely find this book.
Jacqueline Porter-Curtis It is such a fun read! Except I kept picturing all of the characters in the book as the people from DA.
