Six Elements for Every Child Here, we outline six elements of instruction that every child should experience every day. Each of these elements can be implemented in any district and any school, with any curriculum or set of materials, and without additional funds. All that's necessary is for adults to make the decision to do it.

Vickie Kearns What makes a word an outlaw?

Profile picture of Allis Eldredge

Allis Eldredge I like these for semantic gradients too!

Profile picture of Candice Robb

Candice Robb I am guessing this is to get them to use more interesting words when writing.

Profile picture of Kathy Shoemaker

Kathy Shoemaker Vickie, you want students to use more colorful words...instead of fun-amusing, boisterous, nice-charming, delightful:)

Profile picture of Joelle Johnson

Joelle Johnson I tell my students that Outlaw words are words that break the law and don't follow the rules. They are words that don't sound like they are spelled. For example "nice" sounds like there should be an s in it, but it's really a soft c sound. I also tell my students they are words you can't sound out, you have to know them on "sight" (sight words)
