Colorado's tolerant call for racially diverse dolls in daycare centres by Victoria Beale, guardian.co.uk: In 2011, Colorado's Department of Human Services proposed rules for day care centers requiring them to have dolls of at least three different races. Nothing is likely to be finalized before mid 2012. #Doll_Ethnicity #Daycare #Colorado #Victoria_Beale #guardian_co_uk

Tracy Cundiff I think everyone should be represented, but to have the government stick its nose in it? I agree with the "big brother" comments...Government doesn't need to be involved in every single thing. People just need to use common sense!

Profile picture of Claudia Cooper

Claudia Cooper Having grown up in the US as an African-American, I have definitely experienced the isolation which comes from an emphasis on one type of skin color. Also I have felt the frustration of teaching at at a Montessori school and being made to feel that I was being unreasonable for insisting upon diversity in the books we had available and actually in the entire curriculum. The staff did comply with some of my requests, however I really had the feeling that they would revert to their habitual ways of doing things if I were not present. Unfortunately what Tracy calls common sense is often uncommon and some people seem to require a rule of some kind(government) before they'll do what appears to many of us as the humane thing to do. I like Susan's idea of people taking action as individuals to ensure diversity in their communities; especially people who belong to non-target groups.

Profile picture of Polly McDonald

Polly McDonald I don't care what color you are or aren't. The government should NOT interfere in this.

Profile picture of Denise Mikolajczyk

Denise Mikolajczyk We live in a "rural" area, but my son's preschool/daycare does have dolls of all colors, and as a board member, I know it is a program wide policy. In fact, many learning supply companies already sell them in sets anyway. I agree that time and money is being wasted here that is needed in other funding areas.

Denise Mikolajczyk Also, I would think twice about sending ANY child to a center that only has one race of doll, or only books about one ethnic group, etc. Talk about not preparing them for the world....

Life Apprentice I think it would be SO much better if more "devoted christians" would spend more time on solving the issues with child molestation within religious organization instead of ignoring it instead of devoting so much energy on persecuting a group of people outside their lives.

Profile picture of Jason-Missy Osborn

Jason-Missy Osborn The case that people are making regarding heterosexual marriage/divorce being more detrimental to the institution of marriage, may not be totally unfounded. However, it is only because of the liberal, far-leftist mentality throughout this country that has hurt these marriages the most. Equal this-and-that, hedonistic, entitled-to-everything attitudes have got to stop. I firmly believe that when God created men and women equally, it did not mean "exactly the same". It meant that they were each created with abilities to make a harmony in the lives of one another. Therefore, men(as a whole) will never be totally equal to women(as a whole), yet our country says they are, and should be treated as so; thus forcing hiring employers to discriminate against qualified males in order to obtain a certain ratio to seem non-discriminating. Likewise, gay couples will never be exactly equal to straight ones and should not be treated as such.

Profile picture of Anthony Michael

Anthony Michael In the end, a human being is a human being. It doesn't matter if your gay, straight, white or black. We're all still people and should be treated as such. And we aren't going to agree with everything that everyone has to say but we should try and support the person. If that person means enough to you, then their happiness should be all that matters. Not to mention, true love is so hard to find. If a person is lucky enough to find it, then that sould be all that matters.

Profile picture of Robin Tucker

Robin Tucker Terri, the bible also states that a woman cannot divorce her husband...that only a man can give an order of divorcement...perhaps the government ought to tell women they can no longer divorce their husbands as well? If you want to talk about what threatens families and relationships it's usually not another gay man or woman. It's usually an affair with another heterosexual.

Eco-chic: The Fashion Paradox by Sandy Black: 'Fashion and environmental awareness are two concerns that do not comfortably sit side by side. Over the past ten years, high street fashion, led by global chains, has become ever more affordable and disposable. The sourcing of materials, the manufacture and the distribution of clothes have become the dirty secrets of the beautiful industry.' #Fashion #Sustainable #Sand_Black #Eco_Chic #Book

Kathy N We totally live in a FREE nation! Yeah. Free my butt. These people want to kill us of our diversity. I mean, getting sued for singing a cover of a song and posting it on Youtube? That's just killing it. And censoring Pinterest is going a bit too far... @Candice Egizi-Sifuentez: my point exactly.

Profile picture of Cheryl Dozois-Stoner @ My Adornables

Cheryl Dozois-Stoner @ My Adornables My aim is not to call people out here, but I think it's extremely important that both sides fully understand the twisted background and corrupt agenda of this bill. If you support this bill, because you support "protecting" ideas/work, then READ THIS (and research it's validity for yourself). They are the FACTS: The sponsors/supporters of this bill are the SAME companies who own distribution sites like download.com (CBS/Viacom) and, not only have allowed, but--for over a DECADE--have ENCOURAGED us to download this file sharing software.....making it easily accessible and profiting HUGE from it. Now--WHILE STILL PROFITING-- these guys want the ability to sue us for using the software they made available, as intended, for millions of people! ...You may ask... "Now, why would the very same companies (CBS, Time Warner, Disney...) that made this software available to us (along with the songs, movies RIGHT THERE next to the install buttons, like handing out candy on a silver platter) want to then create a law against using it???" ...hmmm. Think about it guys... It's a viral pandemic, CREATED to use the outcome to crackdown on the info that we access (because a great ...

Amber Mullikin We haven't "won" yet. It's still able to be re-activated, it's just temporarily dead on arrival. The current writing of it is the dead part, as in many have backed out. That doesn't kill it. Anyone who still wants to support or oppose it needs to speak up to their Senators and House members. For anyone who doesn't want to see people expressing their opinions and freedom of speech up here, pinning images that INTEREST THEM, get off of Pinterest. The point is to Pin your Interests. No censoring people here, right? *laughs* What a joke.

Profile picture of Diane Stein

Diane Stein @Julia Johnson hopefully you researched prior to your comment about "stupid Americans". Many issues go into the statement that "there are much less people being shot" First of all your demographics; What is the population of your country? That in itself can make a huge difference in the numbers of those shot. In this country we have high unemployment rates which press many people into robbing to make a living; some go into smuggling drugs, which in turn causes a lot of crime in many shapes and forms. So many foreign countries smuggle in drugs to our country. We have open borders unfortunately which allow too much crime of all types to come in from the south and east. There are so many reasons And we currently have a congress that does not heed our constitution. But, Thank God, it may be coming to an end when we vote in 6 months ! Can't wait to put my vote in ! We don't have to be forced into voting. And now I am off the soap box, and back to Pinning! :)) Have a wonderful week!
