In 1900, Edwin Moore founded the Moore Push-Pin Company with a capital of $112.60. He rented a room and spent his afternoons and evenings developing and making his invention, a"pin with a handle" made with a phonograph needle and glass, in the afternoons and evenings and selling them the following morning. His first sale of 144 pins went for $2. The company continues to produce and market push pins, map pins, and other "small things".
