This is my newest painting for Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, named Madame Dragonfly. It is an original acrylic on canvas board.Vibrant and filled with Passion, she boasts her own dragonfly wings. The dragonflies that surround her are also skellies if you look closely. The Woman in Cocoon of Winter is a Contemporary Folk Art Painting by Jeanne Fry simply named "Cocoon". The painting is done in acrylics on canvas and sealed with a satin finish. Brushstrokes of grey, titanium white, and periwinkle blue create the background. Her hair is symbolic of her cocoon, which encompasses her body. Each section of hair is symbolic with the things that nourish her; rich earthy tones with spirals, midnight sky and stars, and feather like sections in patina and grey. They represent Mother Earth, Father Sky, and the Freedom and Soaring of the Bird Kingdom. The painting measures 12 inches x 12 inches and is ready to hang.
