More than 6,000 square feet of glass was used to create Thorncrown Chapel in the Ozark Mountains near Eureka Springs. Designed by architect E. Fay Jones, the chapel was the inspiration of a retired schoolteacher who wanted to create a place for visitors to the region to worship. The result, which stands 48 feet tall in a peaceful grove along a wooded path, has won multiple design awards and has brought 5 million visitors to the Ozarks since it was completed in 1980.
