20x200: Past and future conquests

This is a board of all my past 20x200 purchases, along with what I am planning on getting my hands on eventually. I have loved 20x200 ever since originally reading about it in GQ, and have gone on to buy 23 prints, a number that as you can see by this board is only going to grow!

James Rajotte - Auditorium: This is the one that got away; the one edition that has sold out that I really wish I had. It has such an amazing etherial quality to it. I fully expect to walk into an antiques shop one day and find it. Status: WANT!

Joseph O. Holmes - Central Park South: How does a cloudy, rainy shot end up being one of the most beautiful I have ever seen? Joseph O. Holmes is a genious, thats how. I bought this right away, knowing it was going to sell out fast. Status: HAVE.

Joseph O. Holmes - West Forty-Third Street (Yellow Cabs): I hopped on this one quick in a 16x20" size, which was smart because it sold out fast and looks great in the big size. I feel like pictures of New York get cliche fast, but Joseph O. Holmes seems to alwats find something fresh and different from the same source material. This is another print that made it from my office into the house. Status: HAVE.

Austin Kleon - Overheard on the Titanic: I'm really glad I picked this up before it sold out, because it is my favorite of the newspaper blackout poems. If you don't have the book, pick it up. Also google his how to be an artist talk or his "From the Desk of..." interview, all fantastic! Status: HAVE.

Kate Bingaman-Burt - Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Carts #1: OMFG HOLY GRAIL! I love this print so much, and hopefully one day will give it it's rightful place in my collection. I think the fact that one is still available after all this time means it is meant to be. After seeing endless photos of the lonely cart in the parking lot, this takes it to a totally different level. Status: WANT!

Jacob Escobedo - Jake: This is one that really grew on me in time. Until it came, I didn't notice the blue grid behind it, but I like it. These drawings were made of people's favorite animals, so I kind of secretly hope this one was for him and not someone else. Fun fact: he also did the cover of the Broken Bells album. Status: HAVE.

Alex MacLean - Houndstooth Pattern in Parking Lot, at Disney World, FL: Another one of the select few that my fiance has brought into our house. I would really like to see what this one looks like in the 50x60" size. Status: HAVE.

Jorge Colombo - iSketch140: The Colombo that started it all. As soon as I saw this, I fell in love, and the fact it was done on an iPhone made it even cooler. When I was in New York, I stayed down the street from where this was drawn, and it really took me back. Status: HAVE.

Jorge Colombo - iSketch084: Another one of my first 4 purchase; the stoplights are my favorite part. Status: HAVE.

Jorge Columbo - iSketch104: Another one of my first 4 purchase- I think there is an Apple store up there now. Status: HAVE.

Jorge Colombo - iSketch098: These first 4 Colombos were my first purchase on 20x200, and they all hang in one hallway in my house. Status: HAVE.

Carlo Van De Roer - Orb 5 (Long Island, New York): This is one of my 16x20's and I wouldn't want it any smaller; it looks absolutely fantastic. The hot pink orb really stands out, and it looks amazing on the wall. Status: HAVE.

Chad Hagen - Nonsensical Infographic No. 1: I think the only thing that would make this cooler is if it actually depicted real data. Status: HAVE.

Clifton Burt - think-make-think (second edition): Is it just me, or is the high/low aspect of doing a haiku on a light up board not really cool? I was really glad this one came up for a second edition and I had an opportunity to get my own edition; it is probably one of my most commented on editions. Status: HAVE.

Tyson Anthony Roberts - The Gardens: There isnt an artsy person who looks at this and doesn't ask me if its an abstract "Sunday afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" Status: HAVE.

Jorge Colombo - iSketch842: This was my 5th Jorge Columbo; I could buy everything he does, but the fog in this one is what drew me in to pull the trigger. To be honest, I kind of like my 8x10's a little better than my 14x11 that I have of this one. Status: HAVE.

Curvilinear Time - Jessica Snow: This print almost didn't look like a print when it showed up- it looks like someone drew it on my floor and taped it up on the spot. It also showed up bigger than I was expecting, which is a nice suprise. Most of my art hangs in my office, but my fiance wanted this one for the house. Status: HAVE.

Hollis Brown Thornton - VHS: I actually thought this was a photo at first, and was pretty pumped when it came in and was a drawing. When I look at this, I feel like I am opening my parent's cabinet to get out my well-worn copy of Terminator 2 to watch again. Status: HAVE.

Keith Shore - Team Picture: After purchasing this, I really began to follow Keith Shore, and I find all of his work awesome. He is doing beer labels for Mikeller and has a mural in the Ace Hotel in New York. A lot of his earlier stuff has stick figures with knives and guns, which is pretty fun; I hope he makes more and I have the opportunity to snatch one up. Status: HAVE.

Jason Burch - Ringside: How fun! I think Jason Burch says it way better than me; "The illustrations in the book all feature gentlemen in suits demonstrating self-defense tactics. I particularly enjoy the contrast in this image of male rage and etiquette." Status: HAVE.

Thomas Prior - Post #471: Once again, I like the fog, and thats probably the majority of it. The photo has a real vintage-y feel despite being current. Status: WANT!

Ross Racine - Prarieside Forks: At first, I thought this was a real aerial of a subdivision, which speaks to the craft. I think it is a very interesting editorial on the suburban environment, and the black and white kind of takes it back to the time where the suburban environment was becoming more auto-centric. I'm probably thinking about it too hard. Status: WANT!

Marion Belanger - Rift #26 (Heimaey Houses): If you look at the top half of this photo, it looks so peaceful, which makes the juxtaposition of a lava-swallowed house very cool and unexpected. Status: HAVE.

Jeremy Kohm - Chateau: What a fantasic picture, and it reminds me both of staying in the Intercontinental in Chicago as a kid, and the 60's era glass globes in the art building in college. Status: HAVE.

Jenny Odell - 195 Barges, Cago Lines, Tankers, and Other Ships: The original Jenny Odell that drew me in. Status: WANT!

Jenny Odell - 144 Empty Parking Lots: BLOWS. ME. AWAY. I don't often buy these in larger sizes, preferring to go smaller and hang them salon style in groups, but this is going in a special spot when my office gets remodeled early next year. Status: WANT!

Jorge Colombo - Queens: Yes, I already own 5 Jorge Colombos, and this appears to be one of the less popular ones, but not only is it beautiful, I think it captures why he started using brushes in the first place, to capture the beauty of night. Plus, it takes me back to when I was younger, flying for the first time. Status: WANT!

Todd McLellan - Old Typewriter: My favorite Todd McLellan of all. I dont know if I could throw all those pieces in the air after organizing them like that, even if it makes for a cool photo... Status: Have.

Chikara Umihara - Rainfall, Upstate New York: On the surface this photo is so banal, yet extremely beautiful at the same time. I think we tend to focus on the beautiful sound of rain over how great it can actually look when you don't have to worry about getting poured on, and this photo took me there. Status: Have. (Actually, in the mail with my Jason Polan, due any day!)

Yosuke Yamaguchi - Slow Ending: This print makes me wish I was still in my short fiction class in college, because I feel like I could write a really fun story around this. Status: WANT!

Colin Blakely - The Suspension of Physics Necessary for All Athletic Endeavors: I couldn't tell you why, but I love fog, and that is probably 90% of why I love this photo so much. Status: WANT!

Sarah McKenzie - Scrim: This reminds me of an earlier 20x200 artist Matthew Tischler, who shot photos through screens, and the photographs of Michael Wolf, who has large photos of places like Hong Kong and Chicago that almost turn to abstract. This immediately reminded me of my vacation in Hong Kong. Status: WANT!

Joseph O. Holmes - CBGB (Register): Not only do I love Joseph O. Holmes, when I went to NY for the first time, the old CBGB was one of the places I sought out. Its now a John Varvatos, but the preserved a lot of the stickers and such. Status: HAVE.

Simon Fujiwara - People Who Eat White Bread Have No Dreams: I can't really explain why I like this print so much, but like so much of the art I enjoy, it just kind of jumped up and punched me in the gut when I first saw it. I am almost more interested in the still life than the bread... Status: WANT!

Jenny Odell - Every Outdoor Basketball Court In Manhattan: One of my 3 Jenny Odells on this list, the exhaustive compiling of her work reminds me of the For The Black Cat... show they had at CAM St. Louis a while back. It makes me wonder how much time she had to spend hovering over Manhattan in Google earth to find all of these! Status: WANT!

Yuji Yamata - Despair: Love this one, it reminds me of Keith Shore, who I also really like, and also my favorite soccer team, Chelsea. Status: WANT!

Jason Polan - 50 People at the Metropolitan Museum of Art: I have been obsessed with the every person in New York project ever since I first heard about it, and was super bummed when I found out there had been an edition of it on 20x200 that I had missed... When these became available, I had to have one! Status: HAVE.
